#1) the French term for scalp is "cuir chevelu" but if you translate It directly back to English, it means "haired leather" which sounds extremely horrible #2) the German word for "bat" is "fledermaus" which sounds like "flutter mouse" which is just plain adorable #3) the Swedish word for "glass" is "glas" but the Swedish word for ice-cream is "glass" which means that if you forget an s you could be saying "im eating glass" instead of "im eating ice cream" #4) the Swedish words "glas" and "glass" are pronounced almost the exact same so "jag atër glass" (I'm eating ice cream) could easily be interpreted as "jag atër glas" (I'm eating glass) #5) common expressions tend to not translate well. A perfect example of this would be that when KFC opened in China in the late 1980's, their famous slogan "finger licking good" translated to "eat your fingers off" yikes #6) another example of popular expressions would be Coors' "turn it loose" campaign. When introduced in Spain, the slogan was interpreted as "suffer from diarrhea"
