Detective AU
Shiro and Keith used to be partners on the force. Until one fateful murder investigation. Keith and Shiro had a witness with evidence that could put the Zarkon, the crime lord of the city, behind bars for murder. Shiro went in to speak to the witness while Keith watched the front. He was barely inside before the bomb went off. The witness died, Shiro survived, but Shiro lost his arm in the process. Shiro’s injury forces him into early retirement.
Six months later, Keith is finally cleared to return to the force by the force psychiatrist. Allura, captain of their prescient, assigns him a new partner. Fresh off the beat cop rounds, Lance McClain. Their partnership is off to a rocky start as Lance quickly realizes Keith is hiding something from him.
Despite Keith being pulled off anything to do with Zarkon and Shiro’s lack of a badge, they are both secretly using Keith’s position in the force to continue trying to build a case against the crime boss.
Further characters, Pidge is a lab monkey, she examines DNA and other goodies for the Police. She started her career in life, because her father and brother both went mysteriously missing and she thinks Zarkon’s organization has something to do with it.
Hunk was Lance’s partner, when Lance was still a beat cop. They miss each other terribly, and Lance has been trying to convince Hunk to take the detective exam and join him.
