There are obstacles to Donald Trump’s attempts to reverse progress
HPCA Director Robert Stavins is quoted in The Economist sharing his thoughts on how the incoming U.S. presidential administration will approach climate policy.
"It is important to bring down the net costs of reducing methane emissions. I say ‘net costs’ because abatement may be costly, but, for example, in some cases yields can be increased at the same time. That phenomenon – in the form of keeping more of a merchantable product (natural gas) in the pipeline – is making a difference in the oil and gas sector. Ultimately, this means greater adoption and diffusion of abatement technologies, whether induced by public policies or through independent market forces.” --HPCA Director Robert Stavins at COP29 Side Event, 'New Horizons in Methane-Emissions Abatement,' November 11, 2024.
Professor Robert Stavins, director of the Harvard Project on Climate Agreements (HPCA), will lead the Harvard delegation attending COP-29 in Baku, Azerbaijan November 11-22.
Professor Stavins and the HPCA team will participate in panel discussions, meet with policymakers and journalists, and co-host two official side events at the conference venue.
