Bug of the Day
Had to adjust the settings on this photo a bit before I really believed that those blurry ovals at the bottom of the elytra were really there and not just an artifact from the camera. Turns out this is Copelatus glyphicus, a species of predaceous diving beetle that eats copepods, springtails, and aquatic fly larvae. Cool!
