Plot:

Fox runs away from his father Dominic, who's been using Fox and his genetic enhancements to stage an uprising against Queen Calpurnia. In dire need of shelter, Fox makes the questionable decision to break into an empty-looking apartment, which belongs to Fitz, who finds an injured and dirty kid hiding in the bathroom next to a broken window and decides to help him out.

When Fitz's sister Copper finds out, she comes up with an elaborate plan to raid the base Fox escaped from and gain the upper hand against the uprising. Fox has painted himself as just a tiny part of things (he was forcefully made to be a big part) so they see no problem taking him back as their guide.

However, the break-in goes poorly, and in the shuffle of Copper finding an unexpected face and there suddenly being more people in the base then planned, Fox is left behind while the Bellators escape with their new treasure.

(There's way more stuff involved, like the Bellator family drama, the identity of Fox's mother, how the uprising works and how strongly the government is pushing back, but this is the best summary that is SHORT)

You mentioned being interested in my OC / OC ships so let me write a couple scenes of them for you! (here's the prompt list!)

Angst #5: “Wake up! Please wake up.” for Leeli Borshins/JJ Karkson

JJ fell over, like a doll falling off a shelf, landing on his back and staring at the ceiling with a terrifyingly blank gaze as he twitched and spasmed, sparks flying from his antenna and metal cheek.

Leeli screamed, almost falling off her own seat as she scrambled to his side. Dimly hearing Othella's shouts for aid, she grabbed his hands and shook them. "Wake up! Please, JJ, wake up!"

His fingers twitched just a little in hers, his spasming slowed, and a faint smile drifted across his face before someone grabbed Leeli's shoulder and tugged her back.

Fluff #7: “Please just kiss me already.” for Fox Hemming/Copper Bellator

Copper stood up, backing away a little as she adjusted her gauntlets. "Okay, I've got the plan."

Fox rolled up the paper before standing as well, just watching her and smiling as she fussed with this strap and that plate. Copper noticed and paused to tiredly smile back at him. "Can I help you, inky?"

"Please just kiss me already."

"What?"

"Oh, it's going to be ages until I see- who are you again?" He slid the paper into his backpack and slung it on as he approached Copper, to slide his arm around her waist. "Copper? Or maybe... my girlfriend, Jane?"

Copper snorted but wrapped an arm around him too, leaning her head on his soft, unarmored shoulder. "Jane's my mother's name, inky. I like it when you call me that, though."

Camp NaNoWriMo 2024: Day 2

(I'm going to try and post a snippet of my WIP every day of Camp NaNo, as motivation!)

Copper dropped it back in the bag (he winced) and pulled out a journal, rubber banded shut to keep all the bulging pages shut. “This yours? Or did you steal it?” “Did you open it?” “Should I have?” “It’s my diary. I’d rather you didn’t.” She hefted it, smirking a little before passing it to him. “You know other notebooks exist, right? Not everything has to be crammed into just one.” He ran his fingers over the flimsy cover, tracing the spider web of rubber. Same as when he’d shoved it in the satchel. No one had opened it. “I like having things in one place.”

Hmmmmmmm. I think other people would perceive her as a nepo baby, (she's a high-ranking officer who's 4th or 5th gen, also really young) and since she has red hair and a resting Doubt face they'd probably assume she has a bad attitude.

In reality, her parents had an entirely different path planned out for her and she fought them every step of the way up the ranks. Copper *does* have some temper issues, but rarely if ever does she vocally express them.

Bonus Copper fact! Her legal name is Jane, and Copper was a name she picked up during training. She's convinced most of the people in her life to call her Copper, with the exception of her family.

Camp NaNoWriMo 2024: Day 1

“Well? Answer the question.” “W-what?” The last little bits of sleep drained away as he pushed himself up to sit instead of lie down. His head throbbed, but not as badly as before. “Well, that answers the second one. What’s your name?” “Andrew.” It slid off his tongue easier this time. It really was a part of his name, after all.
