It’s coming...
Engaging the streets through design.
So let me tell you what happened...
Christmas day comes and my little sister wakes up all excited, then my parents wake up, and then my other sister wakes up. Lastly while still laying in my bed I hear footsteps running upstairs, my door opening and my sister jumping in my bed screaming "IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!! WAKE UP WAKE UP LETS OPEN PRESENTS!!!!"
So we did just that, I got a few awesome presents and so did the rest of my family. After opening our presents every year we get dressed so that we can visit my grandma (G-Ma) and open some more presents from the rest of my family.
We get there and met up with my G-Ma and cousins, eat some left over tamales because as Mexicans we ALWAYS have tamales for Christmas, then finally open up presents.
We all got some more pretty cool presents, especially the kids though. As we finished opening presents I walked into the kitchen to pick up some ads that my dad was looking at. He points at something he wanted and gave me the money to go buy the next day.
Next day comes, I wake up and realize I wouldn't have enough money to buy what my dad wanted so I asked my mom for a couple of dollars just in case because I'm a broke college student right now with absolutely no cash...
I go to the store, buy what I needed to get for my dad and then get home. I walked into my mom's room and handed her the $3 in change that I owed her from what she gave me and then she said,
"Keep it, those $3 will make you rich."
Well, since then I haven't spent those $3.. why haven't I spent it? I'm not really sure you know. Maybe I figure that when I do decide to spend these $3 it will mean something. It will be to buy me something that will change my life.. or obtain a tool that will help me better my craft.. OR maybe I'm meant to keep these $3 to remind myself every day that support comes in different ways; verbal, monetary, or love.. My mom spent a good chunk of change on my family this Christmas and I'm sure she could have used those last $3 she had instead but she decided to give them to me. It's my turn to take those $3 and make something out of it.
You don't have to buy inspiration, go out and look for it because it's always everywhere you least expect it.
So I made it out to the WEKFEST pre-meet this weekend and man I've got to tell you, it was CRAZY!!! There was an estimated over 1,100 cars there and twice the amount of people walking around checking out cars and having a good time. It started to get dark so I didn't get to take too many photos but these are a few I was able to get to show just how much fun and how packed it was! Man I definitely can't wait for the next show and maybe then I'll think ahead of time and set up a pop up shop booth!
