I apologize for the randomness of some of my review times. With life, and then whatever Tumblr is deciding to do... hopefully I can get back on track. (Oops, forgot the Stars).
I was given this ARC by the publisher in exchange for an Honest Review.
Whew. This fourth novel in the Cops and Docs series was a fiery novel for sure. Holy Crap. And to be honest, all three of the Main Characters are kinda douches, through most of the novel, just different levels at different times. But, that's their characters, and, it mostly worked I thought.
The two main characters were Dani and Rebecca, although, Rick, their friend, had a really big role too.
Danie (the Doc) and Rebecca (the Cop), had a relationship four years previous to this novel, but, it blew up spectacularly, and they haven't spoken for any of those years. They've also both changed, a lot. Rick is sort of in the middle too. He calls himself Switzerland at times, but, (and this was a part of the book that I didn't totally love) to me he did seem to favor one of the two women quite a lot. And the fact that I kept getting told that he wasn't doing that grated on my nerves a bit.
On the other side of the coin, I liked most of the characters (despite their doucheness) because they were pretty well rounded people. I especially liked the Sheri/Jacob subplot (a patient) of Dani's. I also liked the growth of the Mark/Rebecca police partnership story line. It too seemed natural.
This was the purest kind of three star book. There were things that I really liked about it, and things I most definitely didn't like either.
