Mallory Lass reviews Blurred Lines by KD Williamson
Blurred Lines is a slow burn, cops and docs contemporary romance that simmers just below the surface until you can’t stand it anymore. I found it very much worth the wait. The dialogue is funny, the plot is engaging and well thought out, and the cast of supporting male characters are highly likable.
Detective Kelli McCabe is a strong, reliable, resilient detective that was recently injured on…

Drawing the Line (Cops and Docs #4)
I apologize for the randomness of some of my review times. With life, and then whatever Tumblr is deciding to do... hopefully I can get back on track. (Oops, forgot the Stars).
I was given this ARC by the publisher in exchange for an Honest Review. Whew. This fourth novel in the Cops and Docs series was a fiery novel for sure. Holy Crap. And to be honest, all three of the Main Characters are kinda douches, through most of the novel, just different levels at different times. But, that's their characters, and, it mostly worked I thought. The two main characters were Dani and Rebecca, although, Rick, their friend, had a really big role too. Danie (the Doc) and Rebecca (the Cop), had a relationship four years previous to this novel, but, it blew up spectacularly, and they haven't spoken for any of those years. They've also both changed, a lot. Rick is sort of in the middle too. He calls himself Switzerland at times, but, (and this was a part of the book that I didn't totally love) to me he did seem to favor one of the two women quite a lot. And the fact that I kept getting told that he wasn't doing that grated on my nerves a bit. On the other side of the coin, I liked most of the characters (despite their doucheness) because they were pretty well rounded people. I especially liked the Sheri/Jacob subplot (a patient) of Dani's. I also liked the growth of the Mark/Rebecca police partnership story line. It too seemed natural. This was the purest kind of three star book. There were things that I really liked about it, and things I most definitely didn't like either.

Here’s the description from Amazon: Kelli McCabe is a no nonsense detective with a tough exterior. Only a select few know her as a loyal, loving friend. Committed to her family, her friends, and her job, Kelli puts her needs behind everyone else's.
As a surgeon, Nora Whitmore is used to being in control. The hospital is her life and leaves room for little else. Respected by her colleagues, but misunderstood by the residents, Nora takes what she needs and keeps everyone at arm's length. In the process, she creates unexpected enemies.
Tragedy brings them together. As chaos grows around them, the lines between them begin to blur. Despite being from different worlds, friendship grows between them, turning quickly to attraction. Will these two strong, independent women find a way to deal with their individual baggage? Or will they be overcome by it?

US Lesfic Author KD WILLIAMSON: First Steps in Publishing
New Orleans author KD Williamson went from an essay on rappelling for school, to throwing herself into fanfiction, to now writing lesbian fiction novels. These days she writes books for herself first, and makes no apologies about that. Here’s what she learned on the way.

WHAT ROLE DOES THE QUEER COMMUNITY PLAY IN YOUR WORK? OR THE FANFIC COMMUNITY OR ANY OTHER COMMUNITY YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF PART OF?
I would say the queer community sometimes is for and against me. I have some readers who love the stories I have written so far and others who are shockingly offended because some of my characters have been bisexual. This was and still is a shock to my system because LGBT+ means we’re all in this together. I don’t get separatism. Division has done nothing for us, and can you imagine what we could do, what power we’d have, if we were all united together? To me society’s homophobia has trickled down and I’ve seen lesbians spewing the same hateful rhetoric toward individuals in the bisexual and trans community.
As far as fanfic goes, I had a base before I rewrote Blurred Lines and they have been supportive as well as encouraging. They also did their part in helping me toughen up as far as reviews go. They were the first step in strengthening my hide. Goodreads has been the second. (Laughs).
