If you were hired to fix the mess Glee made of Brittana, how'd you do it?
Well, obviously Santana would first of all grow a penis ... No, seriously, the writers have fucked up so badly over the last season and a half that I wouldn’t even know where to begin.
I think - given that Brittana have already broken up and the whole Sam debacle happened and there’s no why around that now – that I’d like to see Brittany and Santana have a real conversation for once. Maybe even a type of confrontation. I feel like they need to address the fact that Brittany didn’t graduate and Santana didn’t do anything to help her (maybe we could finally find out if Santana knew she was failing). I’d like to see them explore the reasons why Brittany didn’t say anything and Santana didn’t do anything. I think that this type of confrontation would be great to address all the ways in which the writers have fucked up, i. e. Santana leaving Brittany behind, Brittany seemingly again not focussing on graduating and rather jumping into a new relationship, maybe even a throwback to Santana’s coming out and Brittany not really playing a role there.
I really don’t even know.
I feel like Brittany and Sam obviously need to break up, but I’m not sure if I’d be too keen to see Brittana get back together right away. I feel that the character of Brittany needs to develop so that she can be ‘Brittany’ instead of ‘Brittany, the girlfriend of X or Y’. I know this is a very unpopular opinion but I’d also like to see Santana explore her sexuality a little more. Nothing too serious obviously, but I think it would be cool to see her try to date and make viewers aware of the fact that there are more than one lesbian in the Glee universe. Likewise, I think Brittany’s bisexuality needs to be addressed.
Come to think of it, I don’t know if anyone could do a better job with coming up with a way to fix this than Cora did with Set the World on Fire. She addresses all of the things that I feel need to be spoken to; whether Brittany is really in love with Santana, Brittany having had to stay behind, Santana exploring other love interests, difficulties in coping with life after high school. She somehow anticipated all of the shit that the writers pulled and I think that to follow her plot would be the best way to fix it.
