i know the Techno cancelling debacle is hopefully dying down a little now, but it’s only a matter of time before someone else is under scrutiny. if you were one of the people involved in or sympathetic to it, or even just curious about how this culture has developed, i recommend you check out Lindsay Ellis’ recent video about twitter and cancelling.

it goes into a lot of trends that i’ve noticed on mcyt twt (the whole ‘you’re next’ mentality, the bad faith interpretations, the way white people [myself included, sometimes] are so desperate to be the ‘good ones’) and really explores why this whole educating narrative is total bs.

Just saw someone on the bird app attack people who are using coraltwt to promote charities that are saving coral reefs irl, aka actual activists, because they are "weaponizing the environment". And I want to say:
