It was no secret that try as he might, Nikolai was not fitting in at this school as seamlessly as he’d hoped he would. With the exception of with those in his own house. The rest of the school, well they looked on his with cautious eyes. Except for one. There was one blue eyed boy that kept trying to find his way inside. Under the mask he so securely held to himself. The funny thing was, Nik wasn’t entirely sure he wouldn’t succeed. Never had he met someone with a will as strong as his own. And just as stubborn too. Marcus Coventry had made his life more difficult. Mad him ever the more cautious but there were just some instances when he just couldn’t pry the young man off his trail. And sooner or later. Later for both their sake he’d figure it out.
For now Nik needed time. And perhaps if he could distract him with something pliable. Something that would actually give him a crumb or two, enough to satisfy until he’d had a plan in place. And spoken to his alpha. Most importantly what it was, Marcus was not to be touched. For as much as this one enjoyed playing games with him, Nik was just as found, if not more of playing them right back.
So much so that he’d actually managed to dwindle down dueling partner after dueling partner until the only person left was in fact the very man he’d been having this turmoil with. Truth be told, he wasn’t entirely sure that Marcus was as interested in him as Nik was with Marcus. Though he would never let it be known, especially not to the one that now had entered the room along with him.
“Don’t you just find it hilarious that every time I seem to become a problem they send you in.” Nik took a stop closer towards the designated dueling area. His gaze on Marcus wasn’t one he could entirely control. After all it hadn’t been that long ago that these two found themselves trying to keep a conversation civil. “Not that I’m complaining.” They’d seemed to do that. Ruffled one another in ways that he wasn’t sure either of them could really describe. Nik certainly wasn’t going to and had no desire to.
Whatever it was about this lion, he kept finding the pair of them drawn to one another. Be it of their own free will or otherwise. Nature had a funny way of pushing it’s hand when need be. “So?” He asked curiously, drawing his wand down at his side, head tipping to his right. “Shall we?” He paused, smirk growing ever the more, “Marcus?”
