Character Animation, Pose to Pose, Weight and Character
It was quite fiddly but fun to animate a character and show his different emotions through facial expressions and body language.
From the top right I attempted for him to embody the phrases: 'huh...where is everybody??!!', 'um not listening!', 'you have my attention!', 'so sorry!' and 'pleased to meet you'
Box Modeling and Retopology
I quite enjoyed making the low poly door key in Maya, however my eyes are now burning. In the making of the bow I used a symmetry tool to make it even, but with the decorations in the bow I had to do each one individually. Also, as I was using a sphere and a torus shapes both had one too many faces, so I reduced the polygon count to make it easier to work with.
One thing I would like to change though, is the thickness of the bow. It seems a bit too narrow - apart from that I think it came out quite well.
Retopologising the high poly model also quite fun to do.
Another realisation I have come to know is that I am in dire need of a wrist cushion.
Core Project #3 - 3D Fundamentals, Week 3
This time we had to pose a given rig using the emotions from the provided list and then make a little animation. The poses are posted as follows:
1. Not listening!
2. Whaaaat?! (Pose A)
3. If I reach just a bit further, I can get that! (Pose B)
4. Oof, this thing is so heavy!
5. Nice to meet you!
6. Breakdown pose between poses A and B.
I also included a gif that shows the transmition between the two poses which was done using tween machine. I used Autodesk Maya 2020 for this task.
Core Project #3 - 3D Fundamentals, Week 1
The second task for this week was to retopologize a provided model into a low-poly one. This task was very quick and much easier than the previous one. Again, it was done using Maya 2020.

I made some extra adjustments to my design. I added baroque style markings to my bone, as well as limiting the gold tint to limited spaces on the mesh. High Poly normal map detail as created in zbrush. Albedo texture created in Substance painter . Other maps were baked in substance painter.
I created a low poly and high poly version of my mesh to use for baking. The high poly consists of 3m poly to allow for enough details.
For uv-ing. I uv-ed one side of the bone using a planar unwrap mode. Then I could select the rest and uv them using a camera based mode. I then unfolded each section to allow for maximum texture space. I also scaled the uv parts accordingly so that the texture quality will be even across all seams.
