I need to return to WoW RP, I miss playing around with my boy Corec...
For Corec: 3, 4, 21, 27
The one and only Corec Duskwhisper. I love him so much, and will always appreciate the chance to ramble about him. That being said, these questions, or at least the last one, is rude.
3. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
Corec Duskwhisper is, above all, a very high born aristocrat. And his cultured, flowing, and very posh accent reflect that. Of all my characters, Corec is the most charismatic. His voice has a musical rhythm to it and is of a deeper, masculine tone. That being said, he has dedicated himself to learning many languages, so his very polished accent carries through into other languages. He sounds very polished, and well spoken in most circumstances. Closest Earth comparison would probably be a very well spoken Spaniard who has managed to perfect most languages he learns, but still carries that Iberian flow.
4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
Verbal tics don’t really come to mind. Corec almost never curses, if that counts as a verbal tic. Swearing is when he is quite frustrated or in a situation where the heat of battle or debate might get to him. If he ever drops, “f**k,” in his speech, you’ve really screwed up. Otherwise, the only real tic I could think of would be that he is very vocal when he is thinking, mostly meaning that he vocalizes, “Hmm,” or “Ah,” a bit more than he realizes, both while he’s thinking and right before a verbal response to signify he took a moment to think on the response, like “Hmm, yes, I see. Well that just will not do.”
Part of his noble upbringing involved many speech related classes, so his speech is as near perfect in pronunciation, especially in Thalassian. But if he’s speaking any other language, his “R”s always come out sounding quite accented and elven, and he can’t seem to stop that speech pattern. It irks him.
21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
Corec would look down on the concept of being granted wishes. It’s too easy and takes away so much from life. That being said, since that is the easy way out, he would use his wishes as such: Firstly, somewhat silly but a small hope, Corec would wish for the ability to reconcile with his twin. The tension in their relationship, as a paladin and a death knight, is mostly Corec’s inability to forgive and look past his brother’s undeath, and he misses their once incredibly close relationship. Secondly, his sister’s happiness. They don’t always get along, but Corec wants her to be happy, healthy, and safe. And finally, as it ties to his brother’s happiness, Corec would wish for an extended lifespan for his younger brother’s human fiance. Corec knows that when Eidric dies of old age, as all humans do, it will break Belenar’s heart.
27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
This is an incredibly cruel question and I almost don’t want to answer it. To Corec’s knowledge, both of his parent’s died in the fall of Silvermoon to the Scourge. His father at the Sunwell, and his mother, turned ghoul, at Corec’s own hands with the family sword.
If he could go back and say something to them, to his father Corec would say, “You always treated me as the spare. But I will prove you wrong, prove to you that I am a worthy heir. And more than that, when I succeed you, I will far overshadow you and your paltry legacy. You ignored my existence in favor of a brother who never wanted the House to fall to him, ignored the treatment given to me by your own brother. I am your son, your flesh and blood, and you don’t deserve the legacy I will provide this family.”
Corec is very wordy. For his mother, well, Corec and his mother were close. Just thinking about her now can send Corec into a very somber mood. “Mother, you were always there for me, believed in me. And for that I can never repay you enough. Please be at peace, and may the Eternal Sun light your path, in this life and the next. I love you, Mother, please don’t leave me. Please.”
What’s your OC’s response to being asked for money by a homeless person?
In the case of one Corec Duskwhisper, noble upbringing that he has, he would in all likelihood glare down anyone who dared even get that close, to show clear irritation. But would, after a moment and the clear message, “You’re certainly very brave or an absolute idiot,” he would, very generously, hand over 5 gold pieces. Always 5, and always gold. Generous but consistent.
38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?
I’m going to be completely honest, I didn’t notice this ask until now, oh my God I’m so sorry, I haven’t reblogged an ask prompt thing in a while so I’ve probably kept you waiting way too long ;_;
Knowing me, this is in reference to Corec tho:
Corec admires strength and intelligence in others, typically. He respects those that can compete with him, because he’s (arrogant as hell) charismatic, cunning, and a gifted swordsman. So he most admires traits that either compliment his the most (respects the other person) or admires traits that are useful (he’s a manipulative ass)
As far as talents he wished he had, he mostly wishes that he was talented at relaxing. He’s a workaholic so he struggles to destress and relax, so if that counts as a talent, there you go. He considers his tool set for talent to be relatively complete as is, because he doesn’t like to be a jack of all trades type person, so what talents he doesn’t possess, he goes to people who have them.
For Corec :3 (21) Do they have a temper? What are they like when/if they do lose it? (22) What are their favorite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they insult behind someone’s back? (46) Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves? (47) How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?
Oooh, gosh, thank you :D Corec is an adventure to answer questions for, I’ll do my best.
(21) Do they have a temper? What are they like when/if they do lose it?
-Corec has that whole ultra calm thing going for him at most times, but the moment you piss him off, it’s like a switch. His cold rage is very intense, and quite honestly murderous. He’s not one to forgive easily. So yes, he has a temper, and woe to anyone who brings it out.
(22) What are their favorite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they insult behind someone’s back?
-Corec aims for people’s insecurities or lack of social grace typically. He was raised in a noble family and it shows: all his insults are usually veiled or in backhanded compliments. You only clearly know when he’s insulting you if he wants you to know. He doesn’t necessarily insult someone behind their back so much as he uses the rumor mills and gossip like any other weapon in his arsenal. That is to say: cruelly and with much mastery. His charisma is his strongest weapon.
(46) Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?
-“A first impression is the most important social tool one can employ,” in Corec’s mind. He always puts his best foot forward, laying on the charm or the intimidation needed, depending on the context of the situation. In a a way, his first impressions reflect him accurately in that he puts great value on charm and strength. Otherwise, he has a tendency for lying and never showing his true face except to those he most cares about, so his first impression is also just one of many masks he chooses to wear. -“Corec or House Duskwhisper, at your service. A pleasure to make tour acquaintance,” is the go-to, but not the sole introduction he uses. He relies a lot on his noble name to make an impression, but that works best in Silvermoon. So among non-elves, he uses military titles. High ranking Blood Knight and a Champion if the Horde? That’ll do for a strong introduction in most cases.
(47) How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?
-Corec is the life of the party. Typically his own parties. For such a workaholic, military figure, Corec loves to throw large social events. Both to relax and to also network and play up his social and political influence. He adores parties. So he acts like a social butterfly at parties that aren’t his own, and like an attentive and welcoming host at parties he throws.-If It were up to Corec, any event that wasn’t the battlefield or the bedroom would be a black tie event. Fashion is an important part of Corec’s entire outward personality, and presentation is everything.-At a formal party, Corec can be seen conversing with pretty much everyone, playing one social game or another. He sees a formal party as a game, and he plays to win. So he will definitely spend a great deal of time on chit-chat.
After saying I’d do it forever, finally moved my dearest main, one Corec Duskwhisper, to Wyrmrest Accord. Need to work on his RP profile in game, but like, if anyone sees a shiny blood elf paladin named Corec walking around, feel free to say hi :D (I’m shy but I swear I’m friendly)
For Corec! The Chariot: What goal is your character determined to reach?
Ahhh! That is the most dangerous of questions to ask Corec of all people, he’s my most ambitious character.
The simple way to put it: His primary goal is to reach a position in which he can be at the forefront of helping his people, the Sin’dorei, be at the top of things, above all else. Preferably through his own plans and stratagems, of course. Which can be interpreted as you will, as putting too much information on his exact goals could be considered dangerous to the well being of his goals.
“Let not fate deter our ambition,” --Duskwhisper Family Motto
The astounding @otherwolves has yet again brought great justice to my child for the third time, because I have low impulse control and their art is fantastic. I absolutely adore this piece, and the lovely little icon, so very much, and I cannot thank you enough. Corec Duskwhisper is my oldest and most favored OC, and I created him at a time before I was really into RP as a concept (way back in 2009 or 2010...I’m old and so is he), therefore in-game he has always existed on the PvE realm of Azjol-Nerub. However as time has gone by, I have been wanting more and more to actually RP with him in game. So I’ve decided to realm transfer him as soon as I have the spare money. Still debating between WrA and MG, but I’d love anyone’s thoughts on that :D This ambitious, arrogant, and vain Blood Knight is my son, and I hope others will enjoy his snooty ways on an RP realm. Or kick his butt, he’d deserve it probably. Thank you again, Eri, it’s just... so important to me.
“Is it truly arrogance if it is well deserved pride in one’s self? I wonder...” -Corec, of House Duskwhisper
