Oh are we telling you about our PLA oc protags now? I saw someone else who also named their character Ariel, but mine goes by Ari! She started life as the renamed version of my mystery dungeon self insert (in fact, she gets to Hisui from the Pokémon only pocket dimension), and has changed a lot, but she’s settled into ice blue hair and gold eyes as the shiny version of my original variant of Skitty (ice/fairy->ice/dark delcatty)
I’m still trying to decide if she gets to keep any friends from her time in the pocket dimension during her Hisui adventure, since her time as a Pokémon was all about finding and retrieving a childhood friend to protect the balance, but she IS keeping her ability to talk to Pokémon. It’s humans she’s going to have an issue with, since she doesn’t speak the same dialect as the settlers or the clan language, being from modern Hoenn! Ari’s partner as a mystery dungeon protag was a Shinx named Flinx, but I kind of think it’s funnier if her Oshawott rival Oliver ends up following her to Hisui instead of Flinx, because they’ll argue nonstop due to personality clash, and Oliver won’t listen to her in battle, and since he’s not her Pokémon she cannot put him in a pokeball.
Also, in Hisui, Ari stutters while introducing herself, so, now there’s just two survey corps girls named Akari, according to Laventon, and he’s too sweet who’d want to tell him he got their name wrong?
OH that’s awesome, I’ve wished that skitty would get something like that officially for a long time 🥺🥺🥺
OH SHE’S A HOENN RESIDENT!!!! I LOVE THAT LET”S GOOOOO 🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺
she could keep both her friends tbh, there’s nothing stopping that!! her partner for company and her rival for the conflict -- like having both bede and hop, or silver and ethan!
also noooooo ari it’s okay you can tell him it’s not your name!! 😂😭😂😭
Tell us more about the trans Deltarune characters? 👀
Sure thing!
In Undertale, the ghosts are very obviously trans-coded, Napstablook being referred to with they/them pronouns, and Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew hiding before getting a vessel and searching for a vessel that suits them better, or straight up creating one that'll represent how they feel. Mad Mew Mew even changed vessel (Dummy to Mew Mew) to better represent how she feels she should look like. Both Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew are pretty outgoing once they have the vessel they prefer.
However, in Deltarune, both Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew are hiding in their house, seemingly hiding from the outside world. It would suggest that they haven't found a vessel that suits them, and are too uncomfortable having the Town see them in their pre-transition bodies.
Additionally, it would make sense for Mettaton to have an online persona that closely resembles his ideal self (i.e. robot), but as the internet is down, its impossible for him to "get entertainment" anymore, and he doesn't have a physical manifestation of that physical self, as he most likely has never met Alphys in person.
I think it would be really interesting (and very epic of Toby) to help Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew with their transition.
So if Miles is the only animal person in the au I am just thinking of Gregory in the checkout line at the Barnes & Nobles with a bunch of books on both parenting and cat care. He’s going to the babies r us after this and then the pet smart
CORRECT. He knows not why his son is both a baby and a kitten, but hell if he's not going to be supportive!
i would like to hear more about your Ralsei Lightner Theory
Okay, so. The evidence. Some of these points are stronger than others but I kept thinking of new stuff as I was writing, so I kept putting it in.
1) Darkners outside their dark worlds are either a) in their light world forms in the light world (eg: lancer and rouxls kaard as cards, queen as a computer, all the darkners as toys in the unused classroom) or b) turn to stone when they go to a different dark world (lancer and rouxls kaard in cyber world), except for Castle Town
2) Ralsei doesn't tell us this until he absolutely has to in order to let us know what happened to Lancer in cyber world, and that he'd be okay when they got back to Caste Town. He's also vague about the how and why, and says "some darkners" but doesn't elaborate
3) Ralsei is never seen in the light world
4) Susie never closes the fountain, it's always Kris, which means that maybe it's not a general lightner thing, despite what Ralsei says
5) Ralsei knows about the layout of the light world (eg, telling you to go gather up the toys from the old classroom)
6) Ralsei gives information only as absolutely necessary (see above re: darkners in different dark worlds, as well as information about The Roaring)
7) Ralsei shows up in cyber world without being brought there, and there's no connection from the school to the librarby like there is from the storage closet to the unused classroom (that door on the side, which is represented in the dark world as that big door you go through after training against the dummy)
8) Ralsei doesn't seem to have any sort of thematic connection to Castle Town--he's not a card in a card castle, or a chess or checkers piece on a board, etc. (this one is a little flimsy since we haven't seen the light world storage closet, but I'm putting it here anwyay)
9) We see in Ch. 1 a darkner boss who hates lightners, and in chapter 2 we see a darkner boss who loves lightners. Lancer's Dad (king of spades) and Queen are both equally obsessive but in different directions (king of spades trying to kill you, queen trying to make noelle want to take over the world to make her happy), and I feel like Ralsei doesn't quite fit the mold of what we've seen so far from them or from the non-unique darkners.
10) In fact, Ralsei is a "Prince from the Dark," which can be interpreted as a prince who is a darkner, or it can be interpreted as someone who rules and has been in the dark... like a lightner rules over darkners, whose purpose is to serve, who perhaps has been living in the dark world instead of the light world. The prophecy doesn't say "Two Lightners and a Darkner," it says "A Human, a Monster, and a Prince from the Dark" (and also, Ralsei is the one who tells you the prophecy, and we know for a fact that he's been omitting things, so...).
11) Hell, technically Lancer qualifies as a Prince from the Dark--he's a prince of a dark world and definitely a verifiable darkner! We only have Ralsei's word that he's a prince at all
12) Also, darkners tend not to look like any monsters we've seen, but Ralsei looks like a boss monster, like Toriel and Asgore. It's possible that he's some kind of plush doll in the light world, but it's equally possible that he's a boss monster who has chosen to live in the dark world
13) Also also, Ralsei uses spells, which require tension points. So far, we haven't seen any enemies make use of tension points or magic, only use the same few attack patterns. This is obviously a mechanical thing, but the fact that the only other people we see using things that are clearly magical (as opposed to an attack pattern) are Noelle and Suzie (after being taught by Ralsei), despite him saying that anyone can do it is interesting (while predominantly mechanical, I'd love to see if we get a confirmed darkner in the party at some point and see what their magic looks like or if they get a different menu option, like Kris's ACT option)
14) OH, and edited to add (before posting but after queueing): you know how some people think the triangles in teh delta rune are two lightners (pointed up) and a darkner (pointed down)? WHAT IF instead they’re two monster souls (upside down) and a human soul (pointed down)? This one is probably nothing but I did just think of it so I decided to add it in
You know, legally, if you can get even a scrap of proof the Fartman knew anything about your OCs, he would be in biiiiiig trouble. My favorite author refuses to read any fanfic or hear about OCs from her stories’ fans bc she doesn’t want to risk the legal consequences or being forced to change her story lines or anything. There was a huge...star trek? Court case over it when I was little, I think. Jsyk
hmmm its awfully tempting but im not sure if fan content is good grounds to stand on and i dont think there is a way to have proof that he knows so yeah lol, even if there was i dont think its worth perusing if its just silly fandom stuff im doing for fun you know
POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective
Ever since Wan Shi Tong pulled the library beneath the desert, the Knowledge Seekers were horribly bored. They once helped countless humans navigate the library and expand their worldview. Now, they were lucky if a single human stumbled into Wan Shi Tong’s halls once a century.
The last human to visit hadn’t been nice.
Sure, the Knowledge Seekers enjoyed playing with the flying jerboa or any of the other creatures Wan Shi Tong housed. But they did not relish learning like the humans did. It was only Wan Shi Tong who sought after knowledge these days.
Even when the Knowledge Seekers went out into the world at Wan Shi Tong’s behest, they were not allowed to interact with the humans. If they did, more would try to find the library, Wan Shi Tong always warned. Humanity was not welcome, no matter how bored the Knowledge Seekers were.
The Lazy One was not good at following directions. It had always done as it pleased, but things always worked out so Wan Shi Tong could not get too mad at the Lazy One.
So when the Lazy One felt the pull of something interesting in the sands surrounding its home, it did not hesitate to investigate.
Nor did it hesitate to lure an interesting young human back home.
