OC concepts I think about a lot, an incomplete list

• Corey asking a bajillion questions about Mattie's gender/sexuality because he wants to be as supportive and knowledgeable as possible. Even lets her put makeup on him a couple times (research purposes)

• Laila referring to mcr as "this totally sick band from a few towns over from where I grew up. sucks they broke up, the guitarist was genuinely the best I've ever heard— no offense to Corey."

• Mattie making clothes for Jay and Jay picking out her outfits (best dressed siblings ever!)

• Nick thinking he's asexual because he's never enjoyed sex then blowing/frotting with Corey and realizing he's not ace he just doesn't like girls

• Laila being able to do a super convincing valley girl accent because her coworkers (Californian) made fun of her Jersey accent

• Jay and Mattie are both picky eaters but in opposite ways so they're always swapping things off their plates

• other than church/school choir as a kid, Mattie had no vocal training whatsoever. Nick taught her some technique but she's mostly just winging it. She puked a couple times while recording Pros And Cons Of Drowning (first record) due to screaming too hard

I've been thinking about my ocs as kids lately.

thinking about 12 year old Corey and Billie trading baseball cards and snacks at lunch. being in the school band together. Corey was a tryhard trombone player, while Billie just mimed pressing the buttons on his clarinet. Corey being excited to try "fancy white people food" (ik he'd tear up some scallop potatoes) and go to protestant church while staying over at the Crawford's house. Billie being amazed that Corey can play guitar, especially since his dad's old guitar looks so sick. They listen to the Dead Kennedys together and snicker at California Uber Alles because Billie's dad is a hippie politician.

just saw someone on tiktok say "girl who never went to prom will always have the Scariest wedding you'll ever go to". that is true for Laila. Like. her wedding dress was in fact a thrifted prom dress. She had separate mixtapes for each segment of the wedding. She approved everyone's outfits beforehand. This was very much Her wedding 🤍. she ofc asked for Corey's input every step of the way, but he mostly lets her do her thing.

have I mentioned Corey's family? He has two older sisters, Rita and Veronica. The two of them had a falling out and Rita moved out as soon as she turned 18. so Corey didn't see her much. then a couple (5-7) years later, they get back in touch after Corey and Billie coincidentally move into the apartment down the hall from her. she has a son, Gabriel, who is about 5 years old. since she has to work so much (waiting tables and studying for med school) Corey babysits sometimes.

editing the CoreyMatt fic I posted yesterday because Corey would rarely initiate touch without permission, and Mattie would flinch like a startled deer if he did.

Matt is sooo weird about touch. sitting in a guy's lap, perfectly fine. Said guy touching her face without warning? deer in headlights 🦌🦌🦌.

she'd get over it ofc because she likes touch, it's just a reflex. but still, Corey is considerate like that
