Enjoy these homemade bagels with a delightful twist of coriander-lime hummus. Perfect for a hearty breakfast or snack!
Ingredients: 4 cups bread flour. 2 teaspoons salt. 2 teaspoons sugar. 1 packet active dry yeast. 1 1/2 cups warm water. 1 egg, beaten for egg wash. Sesame seeds optional, for topping. Poppy seeds optional, for topping.
Instructions: In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place until it doubles in size. Preheat your oven to 425F 220C and bring a large pot of water to boil with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a bagel by poking a hole in the center and stretching the dough evenly. Boil each bagel in the sugar water for 1-2 minutes on each side, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each bagel with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack before serving with Coriander-Lime Hummus.
