Hey! I'm looking for advice for my corn snake!
He's about 5 years old, 3 ft, and I've had him since he was a hatchling. He's had occasional dry sheds but nothing a soak couldn't fix. (And not consistent) But after a pretty patchy shed a couple months ago I did a bunch of research to make some habitat changes.
As I live in Arizona and it's a particularly dry summer right now half of his enclosure is Aspen shavings, while the other is coconut fiber. He's got Sphagnum moss to help maintain humdity on the moist side and two different water bowls (one is a large enough that he can soak in it if he chooses) and I thought I'd fixed the problem.
But he just shed today, or rather tried to with out much luck. I had to take him out and soak him to help him out of the stuck skin.
He's showed no other signs of sickness or odd behavior, other than what I believe is courting movement?? And he definitely has an appetite, but I'm just worried with his dry shedding he's gonna get stuck eye caps or something that could hurt him.
I gave him a wet hide tonight to see if that helps but of anyone has anything else that might help him out I'd appreciate it!!!
