STILL loving Warhams: A Chaos Odyssey so much. Some thoughts under the cut (to avoid spoiling things in case people haven't seen episode 3 yet)
Bethael is growing on me, much to my surprise - I am not usually drawn to characters like him, but this time something clicked. I'll have to set some time aside from a current project to draw him after episode 3, because he is so so so delightful. Calmest Khorneate I've ever seen I think. Love how he views it all - violence will always prevail, violence is the rule of the beasts but we are all beasts, in the end it will all come down to bloodshed. Plus, he looks even cooler now with the scorpion tail! That's so cool! That's amazing! I am headcanoning that every attack he missed against his brother in the cage fighting scene was because he had trouble balancing with the new tail. Having an entire new limb will offset you until you get used to it, after all. Also, Odo's ability to voice him and give him such a specific feel is incredible. The accent felt a bit weird initially, but it's really grown on me and now I cannot imagine Bethael speaking any other way ever. Amazing voice work and amazing character, really.
Lyphos! Lyphos me wizard. Me wizard you'll bring Skarbrand on the voidship one day. But I'll say that it's a fair trade for looking cool and floating around, that's a fair trade. I would also summon a daemon by accident if it meant i could aurafarm. Sincerely love the way he acts - and love how he misses that people make fun of him when it comes to using magic for stuff. Like, unintended side effect of I Am A Powerful Wizard mental illness is being bad at social cues? My man dhwjdhejd. Also, his voice scratches the brain very good. It feels very appropriate, even though when I was listening initially I had thought Sefice and Lyphos' voices were switched agdhshs. That's what I get for not looking at the screen and not paying all my attention in the intro episodes (I figured it out eventually). Also. Did not expect him to grab and shove Yvgeny in the locker. That was real fuckin funny.
Byzanti has many secrets. No but seriously I might write that down on a shirt with bleach or something that motherfucker has made his way into my vocal stim collection. I have many secrets. You know how I am, I have many, many secrets. Oh don't you know? I have secrets. Many of them. I have OK. Ok. Regardless of Byzanti's many secrets, he continues to amaze amaze amaze me by being so wonderfully, I don't know, hot and cold? The way he switches from the gleeful scheming to threats, from amiable conversation to barking out orders to follow, the way he is always ready to stir the pot to see if it'll go boom, it's both damning and awfully entertaining to see. Also, schemer. Love me a schemer. Love what he said. "Now I believe that Chaos I a choice. But if he chooses wrong, I will kill him". okkkk! I see you sir! I see the horrors you have been not upfront about! I see the scheme! I am scared but intrigued.
Sefice... Sefice I wasn't quite as enticed by the ooze in the previous episodes but you're growing on me like spores.... He's in my brain...... Waow... Also love that he's got an attendant, that makes an awful amount of sense! He's slow and he oozes and worshippers of Nurgle do seem like the most peaceful types (amongst each other). Makes sense he'd have someone to help out for daily matters, or something. He is fantastic in how he approaches anything, and he's just. He seems content. That is incredible for a WH40K character. Tranquility... Waow.... Also he's just funny bdjwhdjs.
Yvgeny... I am a simple person, I see little guy in a horrible situation and I rub my hands together and say yes.. Yes.. YES like the sickos comic guy. Like listen he is doing his best and he is so fucking hilarious. Got so used to the horrors already that he didn't even bat an eye at the Captain. Held a normal conversation with Lucetrix. This man feels like he'd be able to hold a conversation with a Higher Daemon over shitty breakroom coffee and come out of it like "huh, I guess that was fine. One more point towards the khorne score I guess". Remarkable in how he manages to not get stomped by anyone.
Also, I know many people made jokes about it, but it sincerely feels like some sort of Yvgeny dating sim lmao. Those space marines really really want the guardsman (to join THEIR faction). Who wouldn't though. He's mostly level headed, he makes his conclusions after looking at the evidence, he hates the Emperor, what's there not to love? Also lmao he keeps getting picked up. I want to pick him up and shake him like a rag doll.
