We made the very short drive from Flagstaff to Cornville (a tiny town just south of Cottonwood) and are parked in a pretty little RV park near Apache Springs. Since we arrived so early in the day, we had time to do a little wine tasting after lunch. We noticed a couple of wineries along the road on our drive in and decided to go check them out. Our first stop was Page Springs Cellars. We stood around, with a multitude of other people, near a hostess stand outside of the facility, for a few minutes before finding out that it would be 45 minutes before we could even get into the tasting room. We decided to check out another winery! We drove a very short distance to Oak Creek Winery. They were not busy at all, we found a seat on their outdoor patio and shared a tasting. The tasting was $15 for 4 wines. We also bought a glass to share - that was $15 AND it was less than 5 oz. So far we were not impressed with our wine tasting experience in this area. Javelina Leap Vineyard was right next door, so we decided to give the area one more chance. This place wasn’t crowded either and we were able to do a tasting for the “small fee” of $24 - yikes! We bit the bullet and did a tasting - we really liked the petit verdot and shared a glass. It was $18/glass, however, the pour was extremely generous. By this time, we were done with our northern Arizona wine tasting experience. We drove into Cottonwood and went to the Safeway, where we bought 6 bottles of wine for under $60, before heading back to our campsite for the evening! Here are a couple of photos from our afternoon of wine tasting:
