Fruit-Bowl Lawsuit Man
Tremont Manners, the so-called “Fruit-Bowl Lawsuit Man,” 1914.
Few people have been sued as much or as often as Tremont Manners, one of the founders of CorpCo. During his tenure as the president of CorpCo, Manners found himself in court a record 315 times between 1911 and 1919. He was never without a smile or his omnipresent fruit bowl. When bored (which was always), Manners would snack on a piece of fruit. When incensed (which was invariably), Manners would throw a piece of fruit. When found in contempt of court (which was a staggering 315 times), he would clutch the bowl to his chest as he was forcibly removed from the court room.
