Hypocritical News Corp Call For Us To Back Australia
News Corp, the owner of most of our capital city newspapers, could start by paying corporate tax for the first time in a decade if they really wanted to back Australia. Appealing only to the dumbest Aussies, who have no idea who owns what, News Corp is an American company. Hypocritical News Corp call for us to back Australia. The provincial backward looking campaign is but a smokescreen for an advertising feature. Legacy media is on its last legs and the world has rapidly moved on from newspapers and free to air TV. These ad revenue dependent business models are very last century.
How About Corporate Australia & Multinationals Paying Tax To Back Australia?
Corporate Australia does not pay its fair share of tax, with a third of all companies not paying any tax at all in recent financial years. Foreign multinationals avoid paying tax in Australia via profit shifting to tax havens. For example in 2019 Uber made $785 million and paid $8.5 million in corporate tax. Google (Alphabet) profit shifted some $8 billion to Ireland to avoid paying its fair share of tax downunder. News Corp has not paid corporate tax for nie on 10 years in Australia. So much for backing Australia folks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCcaRNktM1g Patriotism Is The Last Refuge Of Scoundrels
The lies that these corporate types and their functionaries tell us is gobsmackingly outrageous. They depend upon the stupidity and disinterest of many Australians. News Corp is a divisive media voice via its Sky News Australia, Fox News and radio shock jocks on its networks. They like to drum up discord over issues and are firm backers of the culture wars. Toxic masculinity is always close to their emotive button pushing, as they drive a victimhood message to their white male audience. Anglo-settler racism is never far from the subtext underpinning what their op eds have to say. Wrapping yourself in the national flag is a favourite of right wing political stratagems. What do they say, ‘patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels’. Boy, do we see that in Trump’s America. Australian conservatives copy shamelessly from big brother USA. Hypocritical News Corp call for us to back Australia.
Dropping Net Zero
The National Party has dropped net zero from their policy platform going forward. They found the gumption to do this based on Trump’s America. They are calling for their Liberal Coalition partner to do likewise. Turning a blind eye to climate science is the favoured position of far right conservatives. They appeal to the section of the electorate that likes the easy and cheap option in the short term. Oh global warming is too hard! Someone else can fix that? These are the positions of the Nationals. I wonder how their children will feel about that down the track?
Don’t fall for the window dressing from these corporate grifters, as they don’t really back Australia. If they did they would pay their taxes. Oh yeah, just remember that Rupert Murdoch helped get Donald Trump elected President.
Convicted Felon Trump Pardons Convicted Felon Santos
“In another stunning example of disrespect for the laws of the land, President Donald Trump pardons convicted felon George Santos. The former NY Republican Congressman Santos had pleaded guilty to a slew of charges involving stealing, identity fraud, wire fraud and was sentenced to a jail term. In the most brazen misuse of presidential power yet, Trump declared that Santos at least had the courage to vote Republican. The partisanship displayed by Trump and his party has crossed the line into something that will destroy the American Republic. If you show no respect for the laws of your country by your actions what hope is there for the sanctity of everything that has gone before you and is the bedrock of the United States of America?”
