BACKGROUND / BIO

Cori was born and raised in Merrock. Her mother was a teenager and unable to care for a newborn when Cori was born, so Cori's maternal aunt took her in and raised her with her husband. However, Cori’s last name was never changed upon her adoption as both her biological mother and father have always been part of her life. Cori’s maternal family has owned and operated a local laundromat downtown since they immigrated to the United States in the mid 1970s. As a result, Cori grew up at the laundromat, helping out since childhood and making friends with all of the children who accompanied their parents to wash. Though she and her cousins are set to inherit the laundromat later in life, Cori’s life dream was always to be on tv. Enter her career choice. Cori attended and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in communications and journalism before moving back home to Merrock to work at the local news station, fulfilling her goal of working on tv. After a decade as a field reporter, Cori took on the anchor position for MDNews’s morning broadcast. Now, Merrock wakes up with Cori every morning, Monday through Friday.
