Rewatching the cutscene where Wanderer reminds Durin of his name, and just
My heart hurts.
About how vicious Durin was being, about how threatening he was being. How he was lashing out, roaring, screaming louder and louder to drive Wanderer away.
But Wanderer isn't deterred, because he know it's defensive. He is so gentle with Durin even when he's being threatened. He doesn't flinch or act frightened. He just tells Durin exactly what he needs to hear, and reminds him of his name.
Durin freezes. He stops his threatening, because he hadn't heard his name in eons. And to reaffirm his own words and kindness, Wanderer slowly flies up to his nose, gently pets Durin, and tells him it's okay now.
And Durin's eyes glow from red to blue--from rage to sorrow.
I imagine if Durin had been more human-shaped in that encounter, it would have been more than just been a gentle pat. I think it would have devolved into a full blown embrace, and Durin would have started wailing from the 300-400 years of agony he faced being Simulanka's "Evil Dragon."
Ofc because of his mechanical body gets too heavy for the floor to support him and he falls with Wanderer going after him, but. God.
This ship drives me insane. I swear if not for the homophobic laws of China these two would be one of the canon couples of Genshin.
EDIT: Before anyone else goes and claims Durin is a child, NO HE IS NOT. Here is an extensive analysis of how he cannot be legally (by Chinese Law) be depicted as a minor, as well as a full narrative analysis showcasing how the writers wrote Durin with every intention of being an adult!
Forgive me if this doesn't make a lick of sense, I'm having severe heat sickness issues, but:
Mini Durin = Oldschool Disney Princess trope. Naive, innocent, pure of heart, damsel in distress saved by the Hero (Wanderer), accepted and beloved by the kingdom (Simulanka).
The man was a Disney Princess and then he turned into a prince
--Wait. Trans man Durin? Trans man Wanderer, they're both trans men... 🤔🤔🤔 What if they were both trans men and kissed and lived happily ever after...
I like colouring pencils •ᴗ•)
He’s so sweet
The clothes are big on him. I think when Niwa will return and see him in his clothes, he'll find this view sexy.
I answered a question from twitter by drawing this art.
