“Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea, bad idea!” Cole chanted as he ran away from one of those weirdos. Leaping away as purple lighting cracked behind him. Thinking he could corner and tackle one of the baddies, he’d run after the smaller one. But he quickly found that that was a bad idea, cause this guy held nothing back, and whatever generated his lightning hurt. Cole found that electrical currents didn’t hurt that much, being the master of the earth. But whatever this guy was wielding tore through him, almost knocking him out with how it fried his body.

Jumping away from the next crack of lightning, Cole found himself cornered in a dead-end alley, taking the wrong way to get back to his team. His com was fried and now he was pinned by this crazed weirdo, giggling at his predicament. Turning to face the purple-clad aggressor, Cole raised his hammer. He wasn’t going down without a fight.

“Cute, you think you can still get out of this, huh?” The distorted voice mocked, putting his hands in his pockets, frame shaking in silent laughter. The screen of his mask flashing a mocking “XD.”

Snarling at his opponent, Cole made the first move, hoping to end this quickly. Crossing the distance in mear fractions of a second he swung, aiming for his enemy's center mass. But swinging through he whiffed, throwing himself off-balanced as the opponent he knew was right in front of him wasn’t there anymore. A hand on his neck and a powerful shock sent him reeling as he failed to regain his balance and he hit the earth, hard.

“Oof, just missed buddy,” the masked man spoke and Cole felt another shock coarse through him, making him scream and spasm. He couldn’t righten himself, it wouldn’t stop. Sharp spikes coursed through his spine, he couldn’t breathe, he felt as if he was on fire. Electricity didn’t affect him like this before, the only way he could understand how it could be strong is if it was pure elemental energy, as if-

“J-Jay?” Cole gasped and the lighting stopped, looking at the looming figure he saw his screen flash “! ! !”.

“So,” the voice rumbled, as the mask went dark, “You still remember my name.” Jay’s voice lowered dangerously as he kneeled down to his former friend's, hand alight with corrupted lighting. “Don’t worry, you’ll get back to the others. I just need to make our message clear.”

Half an hour later the team was finally able to find Cole, abandoned in an alley. He was alive but terribly burned, barely conscious mumbling, “I'm sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” over and over again, as he was rushed to the hospital.

We're thinking that the two were corrupted by the evil goo

They softly bonk their masks

They go after the ninjas one by one

The corruption start rather slow but once they leave the ninjas it picks up rather quick, they go from just petty crime to actively targeting the ninjas

They're less disciplined with their powers, they become increasingly stronger but it has physical consequences on them

Cole's their first victim
