Soft launching the new au I thought of a while ago

Stiles, on the phone: Hey dad, so... something happened

Sheriff: *sighs* Put the body on ice and I'll set up time to go to New York

What about a time travel au where summerhall dunk arrives before ashford and decides that, actually ykw, he’d really like to take a several year vacation at storms end with a egg Lyonel and raymun&rowan. So he gets his mark on egg at the inn, travels to ashford, marks Raymun somehow either at their first meeting or when invited to the party tent and miraculously facilitates a meeting between raymun and Rowan, also bonds with Rowan either platonically or romantically, then bonds with lyonel as in canon, then ever so casually mentions his bond sickness and how long he’s had it, which naturally gives all his soulmates stress induced aneurysms and has lyonel running around yelling at his retinue to start packing their shit while he makes excuses to their host and sends a raven to his mom to get a bond maester to storms end asap. Que several years of relaxation and healing for dunk. (He ends up bonding with his other soulmates at Baelors coronation tourney. Don’t know what would happen with the spring sickness thing though.)

I love this! The list of time travel soulmate AUs on my list to write grows more & more everyday :D

Dunk brings Egg with him after patting the lad on the head while handing him a copper. He can't leave his adopted son, even if it would probably be wise. He also can't help but pat Rowan on the arm while talking to her the first day, leaving a soulmark, some part of him missing a person he never got to know well enough in his past life. & now she attaches herself to Dunk & Egg, then that evening on a walk, Rowan & Raymun and Dunk & Raymun all bond. Giddy & wanting to celebrate, they go to the Baratheon tent.

Lyonel can't help but notice the tall man with his little entourage & bald child. He dances with Dunk, who falls into the old steps, so relieved at seeing Lyonel - last time he was begging the laughing storm to yield so he wouldn't have to kill someone he loved. Then they form a soulbond and Lyonel drags his new soulmate & the rest of the gang to his personal pavilion.

They end up all cuddled up in a tangle of limbs. In the morning, Dunk decides there is a way he can change things & can keep this. He mentions 'how weird the day has been & that before Ashford it had been 10 years since the last bond he'd had that wasn't dormant'. Which isn't a lie, Dunk post summerhall, it's only been a week, but physically in his current body, it's been a decade. & Dunk is used to the cumulative effect of decades of losing soulmates & bond sickness.

Now Raymun & Egg are having panic attacks in the corner. Lyonel is running around screaming & packing up all the Baratheon tents. Rowan merely holds Dunk's hand in support, she's more used to being around people whose life circumstances have hurt them in such a way.

So the lot of them leave before the Targaryens ever even arrive at the Tourney. Egg doesn't even consider telling the truth/staying behind, he now has a new little family.

In storm's end Egg is officially adopted as Dunk & Lyonel's son. To Dunk he gets to treat Egg as his son - which he IS. He is now raising his boy for the second time - without hiding behind the Knight & Squire relationship.

Dunk gets ahold of Tyroshi hair dyes & without saying he knows fully offers to help Egg dye his hair. Now every couple of months Egg has a new vibrant hair colour.

Rowan & Raymun are married but Dunk is also part of that marriage. Him & Rowan are besties who are also in love & Raymun loves his wife & husband. They also live in Storm's End & have started the green apple fossoways together.

All the soulmates make sure to get their Maestor recommended Dunk cuddle time.

During the spring sickness, Dunk now has just enough connections among the nobility to start the momentum of sending the heirs who aren't vitally needed to Dorne. Valarr & Matarys survive, the Targaryens know from Brynden now that this measure, started by the husband of Lord Baratheon (who they have never met), is what saved both of Baelor's sons. Maekar is still going a bit insane looking for Egg.

Dunk occasionally sends anonymous letters to Shiera & Brynden, he knows they know it's him - but he can trust them. These letters help prevent a bunch of little tragedies. Brynden & Shiera, with information from Dunk's letters, manage to convince Baelor to send Valarr & Matarys to Dorne with the other heirs.

Dunk also makes sure they're all following covid-like restrictions throughout Storms end. No pandemic wiping out half a generation this time.

& at the coronation the Targaryens have heard just enough to be curious about Lord Baratheon's husband. They meet Dunk first & are all flabbergasted when he greets Shiera & Brynden like old friends and the two of them openly try to proposition Dunk, only to be casually turned down with a laugh. (Dunk is delighted to see Baelor becoming king, as he never got to in the knight's time)

Then they meet Raymun, Rowan, their baby & Lyonel. They dont get a good look Baratheon's bright coloured haired son is running around somewhere.

Then at the feast the lord & their spouses kiss the hand of the new monarch. When Dunk touches Baelor a new soulmark appears.

Little Egg, now 12-13 swears loudly- he thought he'd successfully evaded Targaryen bullshit - & Maekar has a home alone 'KEVIN' moment "AEGON"

It's a very chaotic reveals. Dunk just sighs & hands Shiera 5 gold dragons.
