I really like that Violet Leader resists Sabre’s warnings because he believes all the Steves are stronger together. This really sets up the Rainbow Kingdom vs Darkness invasion as the battle between optimism/teamwork vs pessimism/forced unity, and I’m looking forward to it.

I see two ways of how this is gonna end.

If Sabre and the Steves work together to stop the Darkness invasion and defeat Void, this is going to make optimism the winner of the optimism vs pessimism theme.

If the Darkness absolutely demolishes the Steves, and it’s Sabre who single-handedly has to save everyone, this is going to bring a new challenger in the optimism vs pessimism theme. In this route, Sabre will represent “realism,” the mindset that tries to see things as they really are, without downplaying or being consumed by the positives and the negatives. Realism, the third challenger, will prevail in the optimism vs pessimism theme.

And we get a glimpse of Violet Leader’s definition of love in this episode. I’ll have to look back at this episode later for my analysis of how RQ portrays love and lovelessness.

“I love ALL Steves and sometimes we have to make sacrifices” line confuses me. What exactly are you sacrificing? His friendship with Sabre by not listening to him? He’s already a lost cause in Violet Leader’s pov, so he can’t be a sacrifice.

OH WAIT, maybe Violet Leader’s sacrificing his reputation of “unconditionally loving everyone” by hating Sabre. He’s sacrificing his untainted idea of love to protect the Steves. Violet Leader is saying, “Sabre, I hate you and reject you. Yes, the irony is not lost on me because I supported you back when we first met. But I take it back, and I’m ok with looking like a hypocrite and a fool if it means protecting my Steves from you.”

Man, Sabre must be so exhausted arguing with both Shadow Sabre and the Steves all the time.
