Aurelie wasn’t sure what she would be saying to Harker, or even what condition she’d find the woman in.  Not a good one she’d imagine considering what happened.  

Pushing open the door, the osprey stepped inside the cabin.  “Harker,” She called out.

She wasn’t expecting a call from Harker that night, which instantly made her pick up. Harker didn’t generally call her for frivolities.

Checking In with an Old Friend

Carol had been back two days. Two days to try and get her bearings, and adjust a little bit to how different the world was. But she was starting to feel more caught up, and she never went more than a month without a phone call with her one regular contact on Earth.

The one who’d let her know about the ‘world almost ended’ thing. Not that Carol didn’t have some big news for her as well.

So she dialed the number on her cell phone and waited.

“Heeeeeeeeeeey Harker, how’s it going?”

“I know they’re not as good as your cupcakes, but did you want one? I could only buy them in a pack of twelve...They’re lemon, by the way...”

He knew she was busy with Devil.  She had every right to be preoccupied with her husband and so he wouldn’t take up much of her time.  And...well, if he had to be honest he wasn’t really willing to interact with too many people just yet. 

So there was a simple text, something that somehow still seemed to convey his gratitude.

MC had to be rushed into emergency surgery soon after she was admitted. By some miracle of good timing, Aiden had been on shift, and was quick to assume responsibility for her care.

As soon as she came out of surgery, there was good news. There had been no complications. Her vitals were strong. Not long after that, she was moved out of the ICU and into a room of her own.

After several hours, MC flinched. Her eyes slowly fluttered open to take in a white ceiling and artificial lights. Groggy as she was, it was confusing.

“...Sae...young?”
