Model Predicting the Future of Viral Flu Strains
The German and US researchers have described the model in a journal form which will predict and study the level of frequency changes in influenza virus from one year to another.
It will take in account the benefits of mutation in earlier influenza strains and pattern of previous mutations to predict the modifications in periodical human influenza. The prototype of this theoretical model will play a major role in formation of vaccines for this virus.
A report issued by the researchers in New Zealand states that Influenza is a widespread disease in major parts of New Zealand, over 400 people in their country die every year and thousands are hospitalized because of it.
They say the vaccine designs are just partly effective as there are new virus strains producing each year. Due to this time shift the vaccines produced in a time are not completely effective on a person using it afterwards as they fail to match. They include that this theoretical model will be considered efficient enough if only it contributes in giving effective performance in vaccine formulation. The long term plan is to create a vaccine design which manages to be effective in front of circular strains of different seasons.
Institute of environmental sciences says that the main aim of this model is to create a best possible match in vaccine strain and the circulating strain. Different influenza shear exists within the types and subtypes i.e.
A(H1N1), A(H3N2) and B) circulating in the present season.
The main catch occurs when you have to choose a suitable strain which will become the predominant strain a year later. The interesting thing in this study was that virus strains attempts to alter the fitness of viruses on the basis of their population genetic data. For a better prediction regarding the fitness of the strain, the group of population from which the virus is produced should be as representative at the other one. The whole process of selection of strain includes several attempts of matching previous strains with the present virus strains testing compatibilities and how they will process towards delivering an ideal vaccine design. It will be in the benefits of both southern and northern hemisphere of the states.
