Not in Kansas anymore

They said it is very possible to get a culture shock, but fortunately this did not happen to me, for instead of shock, I was insanely intrigued by how different everything was. Also, its not all amazing, there are some downfalls to where we are, even though the pros massively outweigh the cons. 

With regards to my host home:

     My bed is about a foot and a half too short and not comfortable at all, but I am thankful for the hospitality that our host mom has given us. We are only allowed to shower once per day for less than 10 minutes, but I am about to get a monthly gym membership, so it shouldn't be a big problem. She hang drys our clothing which is not a bad thing, just different. meat is not a huge part of their diet over here, so that is very unfortunate, but we have told her to try and incorporate into more meals (hopefully all of them). They eat bread with EVERY meal, and lots of it. For breakfast, we only eat bread...yes, just bread. This saddens me, for breakfast is my favorite meal, so this might take some getting used to. 

     We walk EVERYwhere, and i love it. Everything is very close to us, El Centro is only a 10-15 minute walk, and the walk to school is about 15 minutes as well,  so we are in a great location. I have only seen 3 SUVs since we have been here, and I assume it is because all of the streets are extremely tiny. Coins can actually buy you things which is pretty neat. Peanut butter is also not sold in stores which is crazy because it is such a staple in the U.S. The lack of meat and peanut butter along with the walking everywhere kind of explains why everyone is very skinny with no muscle. People smoke like chimneys over here, even in the soccer stadium, that sells non alcoholic beer...Siestas (naps) are encouraged, and stores actually close for a couple hours because they are taking naps and thats what people do from around 3-5pm. People hang out very late (probably because of the napping), and depending on where you are, besides looking at a clock, you wouldn't know if it was 9pm or 3am. A lot of people don't even go out to drink and what not until about 11pm. Tax is included in the price shown, and you don't tip at restaurants or bars, which is kinda cool because it saves me money. =D

There are many more things that are different, but these were most interesting to me. I learn new things everyday, and I am enjoying every minute of this amazing experience.
