Cosmic Contract:
A duo that wrote their names in the fine print of music for life, Cosmic Contract's journey led to this very moment.
It led them to soar high & tell a message. One that’ll open many doors & avenues of thought that others wouldn’t normally encounter in their day-to-day interactions.
All in the while Cosmic Contract's goal is just to help truth seekers & open minded people connect a few dots or find answers so they don’t go into orbit.
By free falling in with an emotional connection, it helps Zena (the singer) & Prophet (the rapper) tell personable stories that resonate with the listener.
In the same light, the message is felt thanks to Zena's leviating vocality (& of course Prophet's vulnerable yet adaptive floetry)
For Cosmic Contract it all started in a tiny town called Lorena, Tx at the age of 13. While they were in band class— Zena, the flutist & Prophet, the drummer got paired up together for a project.
Consecutively they had to compose a piece of music for the band to play & so shortly after the two became good friends over the course of the project. As said by the couple "I (Zena) developed a big crush on him but I moved a lot so we never saw each other. We kept in contact via rap battles in text messages & email for a few years. It started out as just white kid raunchy stuff & slowly progressed, as we grew into adults, into more expansive personal development conversations. Eventually, I realized Prophet could actually rap for real life. Prophet: “and i found out that she could actually sing.” This turned into instrumentals being sent back & forth on our iPhones where one of us would record a verse on GarageBand & then send it to the other person to respond & vise versa until the song felt complete." Ten years after just making music to stay connected, Cosmic Contract found theirselves in the same place at the same time & did a Facebook live where they recieved acclamation — ending with 15,000 views. From there, Cosmic Contract was formed.
For the two, music is more than a sound to be heard for enjoyment. "Music is a way to access the deepest & most authentic aspects of ourselves." Cosmic Contract says “It’s so easy to get trapped in the chaos of day to day life & forget what’s truly important to us. A good instrumental is like the key to unlock those feelings & thoughts that we unconsciously suppress in the hustle of life. It’s a way to call forth our truest nature and get re-connected to what’s real & alive within us." Somehow the music just always seemed to bring Cosmic Contract back together — almost like the music wanted them to make it more than they wanted to make the music.
Though the music scene in their town is pretty small, Cosmic Contract loves to participate & perform at local bars, coffee shops & art venues to stay connected with their community. Eventually they hope to branch out & work with like minded artists like Nahko Bear & other musicians in The Hive Music who are creating music with meaning.
For the starter-ups they advice you to keep showing up & share! “If you wait until you know enough or you’re confident enough, you’ll never be ready. We are still learning how to be on stage and the ins and outs of music but that hasn’t stopped us from creating.” the two add.
Overall expect these two to make a big BANG into the rapshere. For Cosmic Contract’s light year has just begun.
They’ve got a Cosmic Baby on the way (how cute!?) so they have slowed down on new releases (but they do have quite a few things in the works right now)
“We’ve decided to take the wheel on the creation of our music & start producing our own beats so we’ll have a couple new songs drop that have our vibes all over it.”
Keep your telescope near folks. You’re sure to foresee like me. This duo is an infinite pair.
