A New Direction.

As I mentioned before Cosmic Inc. is going through a lot of changes. And one of the lessons I’ve learnt in recent years is the value of focusing only on the absolute best. 

As a result, I’ve made the decision to close the Liteworks Studio project down.

For those of you who didn’t know, Liteworks is the name of the multi-studio we own in Loughborough Town centre. The vision was to develop it into a rentable creative space. However, since the concept of the original plan the studio was become the HeadQuarters for The Creative Circle and we currently use it as a office for day to day work, it isn’t ideal to rent it for use by other people. 

Moving Forward. We will be keeping the studio space in the town centre, however it will become exclusively for the use of members of our team rather than the public. We will also be re-naming the location simply to: “The Creative Circle”.

How I feel... The truth is, I’m actually happy, which is weird as every other project I’ve shut down in the past felt like a type of failure. I guess since then my view and attitude towards failing has completely changed, now I look at failure more positively and as a sign that I’m growing. 

I still like the idea of Liteworks, although since its original conception we have had a lot of other great business ideas and opportunities come up meaning that it isn’t likely to be returning. - Claud Williams.

Things are changing at Cosmic Inc.

I am now the sole owner of Cosmic Inc. For those of you who don’t know, this is the parent company to all my other projects/business (e.g. Dream Nation & The Creative Circle). My business partner, Bola Awoniyi, and I decided that although we work really well as a team, we are both moving in different directions with our careers. So for now we will remain 50/50 business partners with The Creative Circle, but I will now be the 100% owner of Cosmic Inc. and the other brands it holds. What Does This Mean? Regarding our vision: Not a lot. I still have every intention on building the brand the way we always wanted it to be. From a management perspective this will mean that I’ll be responsible for all the main choices moving forward. To be honest, this is a situation I’ve never faced before so I can’t tell you exactly what will be happening as we move forward, but I’m extremely excited and ready to start making progress! - Claud Williams.

While I was working on building the new Cosmic Inc. website I realised that the brand really needed updating.

I like playing on the word inc/ink so the business has a ink sub-theme running through out its brand.

The Old "Cosmic Ink"

Previously I was using a paint ball splatter effect as the Cosmic Inc. "Ink", but it lacked a level of professionalism and wasn't representing the brand well.

So now I'm using a set of adapted images created by Leonardo Aguiar which feature the effect you get when you pour ink into water.

Personally I think it looks a lot more elegant, which is the personality I want the business to have.

Cosmic Inc. is coming back :) 

Summer 2012 was arguably one of the most intense periods of my life, mainly due to having all my final exams and needing to hand my Uni disso. 

But during the exact same time period I was dealt a massive blow to businesses. My website server was attacked and as a result I also lost all my websites. I haven't fully recovered since then as I haven't had a chance to re-built all my sites yet.. 

But nearly a year later, I'm finally getting focused on rebuilding our online presence.

Mini Update

The plan was never to leave it this long between blog posts, but life got really hectic, really quickly (in a good way). 

So here is a quick update: 

Becoming a team player. 

About a month ago, myself and my business partner decided that for the future of our company, it would be better if I put down my camera. So for the foreseeable future any media projects i'll be working on will be done with a team effort. (If you interested in getting involved, give me a shout)

First University Contract.

A few days after my decision I was contacted by Loughborough University, to featuring in a up coming marketing campaign. I can't release the details of the campaign just yet, but it a really good look and would be public knowledge for the start of 2013. After agreeing to take part, I was then contacted by the Uni's marketing department to provide photography services for the project! This now makes Loughborough Uni by far our biggest customer. As I am currently "banned" from photography I brought in Ali Foroughi to handle the shooting & editing. And so far, he has been amazing. 

Public Speaking.

I have also had the opportunity to do a bit of public speaking. Including an event hosted by Teach First and Elevation Networks. I've also been lucky enough to take part in 3 of the debates as apart of the Great Debate Tour and give a talk for Black History Month, all of which has been an amazing experience. I wanted to get involved in public speaking for ages, and so far I'm loving it! 

Traveling & Networking.

We are working on a big new project for Feb 2013, which we'll be announcing really soon. As apart of that, I've been making a load of trips around the Midlands meeting some great people and building new networks. Its actually crazy how many amazing things are happening not to far from us, but being focused on our own lives means we often miss out on a lot of it. 

Re-education. 

Since finishing Uni this summer I realised that the only way I'm going to get to where I want to be is for me to step my game in every area of my life. So the first step towards that is making reading a habit. And truth be told, I've fallen in love it it. I've learnt a crazy amount already, which has also given me an idea for feature on this blog. But you'll see what I'm talking about soon :) 

Learning to trade.

I guess as a bi-product of some of the books I've been reading, I decided that learning how to trade & invest is something I need to get involved with. So, I set my self a challenege to making my first investment by the 1st of December 2012. But more information on this is on the way. I'll also be starting a new video blog sharing everything i've been learning & making it easy for you to jump on board with trying to learn the stock market with me.  So yeah, that's most of what I've been doing for the last month. There a few more bits and bobs, but thats all stop secret for now. Keep watching this space ;)
