As I mentioned in a previous post, I got my first Cosmo VoxBox from Influenster in the mail not long ago. I'm pretty excited because for the most part it's a really great box! It had a great assortment of items, most of which are incredible, and it's always nice to be given full sized products to test out. That's right, Influenster sends its users full-size products with no cost just so that we can try and honestly review them. We are never paid to give good reviews.
Easily my favorite product in the VoxBox was the Bath and Body Works Forever Red perfume. It has fruity and floral scents and is very warm and perfect for winter. It reminds me of a red fleece blanket spread out over white snow. the best part is that it lasts all day so when I wear it to work I can still smell it when I get home!
I also really love the Ghirardelli Sea Salt Escapes chocolate bar. A big bar retails at around $3 and it is perfect for those occasional chocolate cravings. The chocolate itself is smooth and delicious and it's embedded with tiny pockets of sea salt that perfectly compliment the sweet. My only complaint about this product is that there are too many almond pieces. I'm not a big fan of nuts in chocolate and this one almost overdid it.
The VoxBox included a Gillette Venus Embrace razor and a blade refill. That second cartridge was Venus & Olay, and has two different skin conditioners to moisturize your skin and prevent razor burn. Honestly, I prefer that blade, as the basic Embrace blade does not have the same protection from dryness. What's cool about the Venus is that each of the different Venus blade refills fit the same handle so you only need to buy one handle and you can swap the blades. What's not cool about the Venus is that while it may have five blades that shave very closely, they clog up easily and I had to spend more time rinsing my razor than actually shaving.
My least favorite items in the VoxBox were the FriXion pens by Pilot Pen. I don't want to say that they aren't good pens, because as pens go they do their job. Plus, they're erasable using friction, which is pretty cool technology. But really, they're just pens. My red pen wrote a lot smoother and produced a lot more ink than the black one did. I found with the black one that if I was writing quickly it barely showed up at all. They do erase really well as long as what you're erasing was not written on a paper that has printer ink on it. If you're writing on a worksheet or some other document and you try to erase, you make a big smudged mess as the eraser just smears the printer ink and the pen ink together. Plus, the tribal designs on the pens are a little dated. If they came in a cuter print or just in plain black or plain red I'd be more interested. I think what I'm really trying to say is that you could probably find a better pen at a lower price. I'm still pretty loyal to my Zebra pen that I've had for three years.
I have to say that my first VoxBox experience has been fun! I've been active on Twitter and Facebook posting about the cool things I've got and how I've been using them and I'm really excited to hear what everyone else thinks of their products too!
