Ok I'm back and alive! I had a fantastic time, but man, was I tired. Also it was my birthday yesterday, so I just took a slow, chill day. Cleaning up all the crafting chaos, doing laundry, all of that good stuff.
I didn't take any good photos of my white lily cosplay during the weekend, so here's the bad mirror selfie I took with the fiance - try to ignore my face, apparently I was VERY focussed on the camera 😂
We had a fantastic time, we gave out so many fortune cookies snd as always it was just great to see people get excited about a more niche cosplay.
Improvements I need to make:
- figure out a way to get the hem to keep the shape I want. First I'll remove the aluminium wire and try steel. If that doesn't work maybe some weird janky hoopskirt kind of thing?
- add more beads
- add some boning to the back. I thought I could get away without any but nope, the back keeps drooping down
- add a hook+eye at the back, above the zipper. It feels very big at the top and keeps sliding down, maybe keeping it together with a hook+eye will help
- if that doesn't help and it keeps sliding down, take in the side a bit
- properly style the wig. I couldn't be bothered to rush out more before we left, so I only styled the bangs, braided the rest and called it a day
- finish the headdress, for now it's just a flower hairclip, she still needs the green strings
- make the staff!
So yes, still lots to do, but she's wearable. And I'll probably take a little break on working on her, bc I need to draw a bunch of secret witch art in the next week or two. So probably not a lot of updates bc I can't show anything
y’all look what i made
Making my Blair Cosplay part 3:
This is just a small update since I haven't posted anything in a bit! But I just finished cutting out all the pattern pieces for the dress!
On another note, updates on this may be a bit slower and/or shorter for the next few weeks. Since school has started back up again, I'm doing my Field Experience on MWF mornings before I go to work and my T/Th are booked from 8-8. So I'll only be able to mentally and physically work on this in small increments for the next 3-4 weeks! 😭😭 I'll keep y'all posted tho when I make a bigger chunk of progress and I'll start reblogging more art and writing throughout the week!
Mei’s hairpin is complete!
(Ignore the Food Wars playing in the background lol) Miruko’s Bunny Ears progress!!!! I used craft foam as the base for the ears, shaping them to be kind of zig zaggy like hers in canon. Then I took fur trim from a coat (using a blade to cut the stitching carefully) and hot glued it to the foam base I made. The fur is a lot heavier than I thought so I might add wiring to the center to hold it up. So far so good! I just need to trim some of the fur and make it look nicer but yeah this is basically what I’m doing! 🤗🤗🤗
akaashi cospics or it didn't happen (otakon 2016)
It's official. Guess who's doing a BoM soldier cosplay for Tucson Comic-Con. Spoiler alert. It me.
