in the spirit of absolute anguish over ep 56, as well as Monster Con Sunday (YIPPEE), I've taken this week to make my jarthur cosplay a reality by making my John into an actually usable puppet!
Look at him go!! :D💛💛💛
also for fun and for the couple of people who asked how to make a puppet like this, I'm going to explain my process under the cut!
I started off purchasing a 3ft dowel and styrofoam head, stabbing that on as far as I could, and then attaching all the pieces onto that👍
It was a solid first try, but unfortunately John looked pretty skinny/formless, and I felt like I could do better.
Next order of events: cutting down the dowel rod to about 2 feet for better mobility (using a handsaw), painting the head, and then constructing a sort of fabric cylinder to work as his shoulders.
Here's what the skeleton looked like all put together. It's about as weird as you'd think.
There were still a couple of issues regarding weight distribution of the cloak's hood and the fact that my hand was very visible holding the rod, so we made some more updates!
I more firmly fitted the cylinder to the rod so it wouldn't be held on by pins and dreams, and then started draping it with scrap fabric from all my John related projects 🙌
Now that he's looking good, it was time to put his clothes back on and call it a night!!
And voila!!!!!! Him AND his mini me are now ready for con!!!
I'm making a large skeleton like puppet. This is a first test to assess the movement of the arms.
I am in the process of eliminating cosplay related accounts on Instagram and facebook. I will be uploading older content from those sites to here. If you have been following me on those sites you will be seeing previously posted content.
