Costly Refusal - Hyunwoo & Jackson
He walks with his back to the infected with too much ease. He gets closer than most would, tempting death whilst questioning its existence. He should be scared, he is scared, thats what brings him to sacrifice on a monthly basis. But the fascination is there, deep down, enough for him to carry on down the street even though he can feel them at his heels.
By now Jackson should have realized that he’s not immune to death, just like everyone else in the city, and that any amount of sacrifice to the walkers will never get him on their better side. It doesn’t stop him from venturing out in the dead of night, when his mind worked best, when everyone else was asleep or pretending to be, simply to look for things that could benefit him. More often than not he comes home empty handed, but he’s always surprised when he stumbles upon a building, untouched, some of the family pictures still intact and hanging on the walls.
Most of the time he isn’t that lucky. The building he steps into reeks of death, and although that has long stopped being off putting, the fact that something has probably died in here, and quite recently, is never a good sign. But at least he’s alone, the dead make much better company than the living anyway. He’s never been excellent at keeping quiet, and he crunches on broken glass as he makes his way through the building, looking for an alternative exit at the same time as feeling along the wall, looking for anything that he can possibly salvage from the wreckage. But it’s dark, and no amount of narrowing his eyes perfects his vision at all.
"Shit-" He hisses, because he can’t see a thing. He pauses, weights his bat up in his hand, trying to make sense of the darkness, when he hears something move in it. He isn’t alone. There’s walkers outside… and now there’s something in here with him too.
