sex repulsed culture as afab is having guys compulsively telling you they can "fix you" and they must fix you, cuz "omg you just hate men, you need the correct man to make you love sex haha", and you realise your body and desires and preferences are not fully yours and will never be as long as someone finds pleasure in them, because lesbians just need a man, or not, let them as long as it is in the porn way, ace women just need a man, ace men just need a woman, two gay man are okay as long as they are hot for cishet women and one is the masc and the other the femme, but not too femme, that would be gross, and trans people are a freak show, laugh at them, do not take them seriously
Sorry i got a little carried away

Can we please normalize asexual people just not being interested in sex at all?
I remember I made a comment on something a few months back, a joke about non-ace people being strange to me because they dedicated an entire month to writing smut (Kinktober), and every single one of the replies was “b-but ace people can still enjoy smut!” “Some of them do it to make their partner happy!” “Stop generalizing them!”
And yes, I do understand that some ace people are like that and it’s totally valid, I’m not saying otherwise. But leave me the fuck alone.
We ace people are constantly put into boxes; whether it be romantic attraction apparently not being possible if you don’t experience sexual attraction, people believing that ace minors are “too young to know” (myself included! I get this way too much and it’s fucking infuriating), people believing sex-repulsed aces are just crazy Puritans, etc.
Sometimes it feels like world revolves around sexual attraction. Just let us exist without your stupid standards. It’s not that hard.
I also never really got the "fuck you", "fuck me", "go fuck yourself", etc brand of cusses. Like yes I get they're not meant to be taken literally but… for the typical allosexual isn't "getting fucked" a good thing? I've always been shocked that it's so rare for someone to jokingly fire back a flirt ("you wish" or similar)—in reality but especially in fiction where quips are so common.
sex repulsed culture is having to see people use the "aces can still have sex" and "stop enforcing shipping rules" to ship/sexualize aroace/ace characters. like yeah, aros can still date and aces can still have sex, but it's just a bit disappointing seeing people use that argument (which I assume was used originally to include real life aros and aces who do those things, which is awesome!) to put characters you can relate to in scenarios that make you uncomfortable. I don't necessarily think it's wrong to do that sort of thing but it just upsets me whenever I come across it and I needed to talk about it

Tangently related to this post, but I did an opposite thing where I knew just how common sex jokes were and so kind of just… automatically assumed that anything I said could potentially be taken as one. As a sort of preemptive bracing for it, in case someone did twist my innocent words for a cheap joke.
Once you hear a couple of dumb sex jokes you very easily figure out the pattern to them and so I kind of ended up with a sort of "dirty mind" as a result because I was purposely reading into everything just to stay ahead of the curve (I'm a pretty oblivious person overall so I very much overcompensated in this regard when I realized I was sex repulsed)
I like to think that I'd be great at making sex jokes, if I was so inclined to do so
s** repulsed culture is being hyper aware of how people online are prone to making nsfw jokes when certain words are used even in an innocent context so you specifically format your message to avoid those words… and then immediately getting hit with a different nsfw joke because of a different part of your message you didn’t even consider😭
(like seriously, I always think I’m overthinking and my anxiety is messing with me and I don’t actually need to be so careful and then something like this happens when I was already being careful… am I supposed to never talk on the internet again?🫥)

I hate the “asexual who passes out water bottles at the orgy” thing. There is so much aphobia in that statement to me. Because to me it reads as “asexuals are cool and valid ONLY because they don’t make a fuss and stay quiet.” Our lack of attraction doesn’t mean we have nothing to say or experience no oppression or prejudice. People don’t realize aphobia is happening because it’s so covert. It’s so baked into society that we are all sexual beings who must behave certain ways.
It is ok for asexuals to want NOTHING to do with sex. To hear nothing about others sex lives. To skip through sex scenes. Not listen to explicit songs. It is OK to NOT pass out water bottles at the orgy.
