Avatar OC Week: Day One

Relationships 

I decided to draw my characters Zhi (left) and Anik (right) for the “relationships” prompt. Zhi and Anik are characters that I’ve had for quite a while now. They’re a quirky couple from around year 490 A.G. They live in the former United Republic, in what used to be Republic City. Anik is a Spirit Healer, a specialized healing profession that came about because of the massive pollution in their country. Anik and Zhi met each other when she came into his practice as a patient and they slowly began to hangout outside of the treatment sessions. They fell in love over a mutual interest in helping others and were married in TuiLa, formerly The Northern Water Tribe, where Anik grew up. Zhi has a strong and passionate disposition which is nicley complimented by her husband’s gentle and compassionate nature. Zhi herself is a professor of archeology, with a focus on ancient water tribe civilizations, and grew up in what used to be Republic City (I really need to figure out a name for it). Zhi has a passion for conspiracy theories, that miraculously always turn out to be true, and Anik is a connoisseur of cartoons others deem far too basic for adults. He watches them nonetheless.

Something quick I did to get back into digital art

Finally finished this! I did the original sketch like a year ago and finished it digitally today.

In my comic Vivian (purple one) isn’t a flirt at all but then my mind was like “but what if she did tho?!”

Working on their colors, so far I'm liking Vivian's robes to be the light grey instead of the dark grey. Also first time coloring Alister

Over my four day vacation I took some time to work on my avatar fan fiction, Crown of the Dual Spirits. I fleshed out quite a bit about the world and made some concept art, seen above. But since the world structure itself still needs work, I’ll just talk about the concept art.

For my character’s Jie (left) and Xiao-Ping (right), I’ve had the idea that they live on literal cliff side for a while. The idea being that these types of homes would be cheap and easy to make once metal bending became common enough, but, since they were mainly built in poorer income areas, were not given much up-keep by the landlords who rent them out. Hence the rust. 

This area is going to be located around the north eastern area of the Earth Kingdom, southish of the Northern Air Temple.

I still want to make some tweaks to the designs but the color palette and overall aesthetic will most likely remain the same.
