Paul Goerg Brut Vintage 2005 Premier Cru Champagne Paul Goerg Range is a Champagne house located in Vertus in the famous Côte des Blancs region in Burgundy, France. This is cradle of the greatest Champagne Chardonnays, producing champagne for more than two generations. Champagne Paul Goerg has a history dating back to 1876, when Paul Goerg became Mayor of the town of Vertus, just south of Epernay. He was very proud of the vineyards in the area, and he became very supportive of the winegrowers and their endeavors. A few years later a number of the winegrowers created some fine champagnes using Chardonnay, and together they named them Paul Goerg, after their supportive Mayor. Maison Paul Goerg continues to produce an exclusive range of cuvées that are of high quality and authenticity. Paul Goerg champagnes take full advantage of the terroir of Vertus, the prestigious premier cru of the Côte des Blancs. Detailed attention is given to the vineyards which provides a delicious interpretation of Chardonnay that displays the Paul Goerg's style with subtlety, refinement and purity. Paul Goerg Brut Vintage 2005 Premier Cru Is made from 100% Chardonnay and is pale yellow/gold in color with a steady procession of extremely fine bubbles. A rich and complex bouquet of biscuit, dried fruit and nuts. on the palate the wine is well-balanced, offering roundness and persistence. This wine is both delicate and strong with a fresh acidity yet the complexity of a fine champagne with a long length that lingers on the palate. This Champagne is goes through Malolactic fermentation in vats followed by a minimum ageing of 5 years before disgorgement or removal of the dead yeasts cells.
