too lazy to find my cotf au thread but I have this Minotaur poem I’ve been workshopping for like. A year at this point and watching Inland Empire is really wanting me to push format for this fic. It’s a horror / tragedy already and I feel like I want to write something beyond my skills at this point. Anyways useless rambling to say I love the way this movie keeps you on uneven footing and it reminds me a lot of the first time we & Thomas see Orlok. The camera guides us through the unease and forces us to bear witness while withholding context and keeping us from seeing what’s around the corner.
a little au focusing on Karasuno’s non-regulars, where Suga runs a group of outcasts and thieves called the Crows of the Forest (A few more notes under the cut)
- Suga was originally from a more rich family but they ended up getting screwed over by the king at the time and lost everything, he was young at the time and ended up living off being a pickpocket at the tim
- He found the “Ungrateful trio” which were just a group of orphans looking for something, so he promised them that if they stuck with him then they would one day be rich
- Suga tends to get them into more mischief then they can handle. Mostly due to his hatred for the king and all rich people.
- He’s a very skilled fighter so usually he can get them out of most situations. He claims to be the most skilled archer in the land.
- The group of them call themselves the Crows of the Forest (inspired a bit by the Lions of the Mountain)
- Ennoshita really looks up to him, more so then the others. They were young when they first met Suga, so he really idolized him.
- Ennoshita is a trusty swordsman and gets a few bucks off of some sellsword jobs occasionally
- Kinoshita is not the strongest, but he’s very quick and agile, so hunting and theft are his specialty
- Narita on the other hand is very strong and reliable. He’s probably the smartest of the group, but Suga is much better of a strategist.
- Yamaguchi was an abandoned child that the Trio ended up finding
- They argued for a while on what to do. Suga (who was probably about 17-ish at the time) decided that he wanted to raise the kid and teach him to fight, probably because he thought it would be fun
- Together they actually did pretty well raising him. The trio especially. They taught him to fight, and hunt, and even how to steal. Yamaguchi decided that he wanted to learn to use the spear so Kino taught him. Though in current time Kinoshita fears that Yamaguchi has far surpassed him in skill, but Kino still has his speed going for him.
- In the au, the karasuno regulars are all royalty or work for royalty, so naturally Suga picks a fight with them.
- The past king died, and Daichi is a newly crowned king. He ends up meeting Suga in public once, and Suga quickly makes a huge scene and declares him the enemy, claiming “One day this land will belong to us”
- Ennoshita ends up yelling at him afterwards about how he just made enemies with an entire kingdom
- Suga: “The 5 of us are some of the most skilled fighters in the land!”
- Enno: “Yeah but THERES 5 OF US”
-eventually typical plot line where the kingdom ends up getting invaded by another one (probably nkma or seijo) and Daichi ends up asking Suga and his group to help them fight for the land, and promises them that in return he’ll make sure that the 5 of them are never poor or hungry again, along with other rewards.
- Then all of karasuno is together again
