The @crownofthornspod has been a HUGE part of my life for over a year now and it’s come to a close! The project is finished! And to celebrate this momentous occasion, I’ve brought another hobby of mine into the mix.

I’ve made a basic cross stitch pattern of the Crown of Thorns logo circled by some of the main characters listed below (going in clockwise direction, starting at the top). The inspiration and design of the characters (though simplified for the pattern) came from the Pod’ramas vast collection of Chapter Art created by countless AMAZING artists.

J’en ai déjà parlé précédemment, je compose la musique pour un projet formidable qui s’appelle “Crown Of Thorns Pod’rama”, une lecture vivante d’une fanfiction extraordinaire du fandom Good Omens.

Et c’est l’heure de vous parler de la deuxième composition que j’ai réalisée. Elle s’intitule Fairy Lights, en référence à une décoration mise en place pour le mariage de deux personnages - Adam (le gentil antéchrist de l’œuvre originale) et Sophia (un personnage inventé par l’autrice).

Pour ce morceau, les instructions étaient de composer une musique pour un mariage de bord de mer. Je voulais à la fois un ton léger, joyeux et serein, et trouver les ingrédients qui donneraient l’impression d’être à la plage.

Le choix a été rapide, ce serait un marimba qui fournirait la texture principale, sur un rythme de valse. S’y joignent un peu plus tard quelques percussions acoustiques, du genre de celles qu’on pourrait jouer autour d’un feu de camp, le soir, au bord de mer...

La nyckelharpa fait son retour, à la façon d’un violoncelle langoureux, pour nous bercer gentiment. Une voix angélique l’accompagne, répétant les mots “amor aeternus” : amour éternel. J’aimais l’idée de paroles en latin, pour faire un peu penser à la religion chrétienne, mais surtout pour marteler le sujet, l’amour !

I have already posted about this, I am composing the soundtrack for a fantastic project called “Crown Of Thorns Pod’rama”, a reading of an extraordinary fanfiction from the Good Omens fandom.

And it’s time to talk about the second composition I made. Its title is Fairy Lights, in reference to an wedding ornament for... well. A wedding. Adam’s (the lovely antichrist from the original book) and Sophia’s (a new character the author created).

For this piece, the instructions were to create a music for a seaside wedding. I wanted a light, happy and serene ambiance, and I needed to find the proper ingredients to remind the listener of a stroll by the sea.

The choice was fast, it would be a marimba as the main texture, with a waltz tempo. Some acoustic percussions join it later, the kind you could easily hear around a campfire, on the beach.

The nyckelharpa makes a comeback, playing the role of a velvety cello, to rock us gently. An angelic voice accompanies it, repeating the words “amor aeternus” : eternal love. I liked the idea of Latin lyrics, to make the listener think of Christian religions, but above all to hammer in the main subject: love!
