Cotter's not conventionally attractive - meaning that while he might not be what most people might consider attractive, there's still people who would think he's attractive. Case in point, Gared thinks Cotter is quite handsome, and had they had the chance to meet him, Rodrik & Asher would have agreed.

Sandgate

In Sandgate is een speciale plek ingericht voor de gevallenen in de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Een monument met alle namen, een bank en een informatiepaneel. In de straat is een grote poppy gelegd. Op deze manier worden de gevallenen van Sandgate herdacht.

Een gevallene ontving postuum het VC. Zijn verhaal:

Lance korporaal William Cotter VC

William Richard Cotter (maart 1882 – 14 maart 1916) VC is een Brit die postuum werd onderscheiden met het Victoria Cross.

Cotter werd geboren in Folkstone in 1882 als zoon van Richard en Amy Cotter. Op zijn 33ste was hij werkzaam als lance korporaal in het 6e bataljon van de Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Hij werd postuum onderscheiden met een VC vanwege de volgende actie:

Op 6 maart 1916 raakte Cotter zwaar gewond aan zijn been bij Hohenzollern Redoubt, Frankrijk. Hoewel hij zwaar gewond was, kroop hij zo’n 50 meter naar een krater en spoorde de mannen aan stand te houden. Hij gaf bevelen aan de kanonniers. Gedurende twee uur wist hij deze positie te behouden. Hij liet de verzorging van zijn wonden alleen toe als het even rustig was. Door het vijandige vuur kon hij gedurende 14 uur niet worden verplaatst en gedurende deze tijd probeerde hij iedereen moed in te spreken. Uiteindelijk overleed hij aan de gevolgen van zijn verwondingen.

Hij werd begraven op het Lillers Communal Cemetery, Frankrijk. Zijn VC ligt in het National Army Museum.

In Sandgate there is a special place for the fallen in the First World War. A monument with all names, a bank and an information panel. A large poppy has been laid in the street. In this way the fallen of Sandgate are commemorated.

One fallen person received the VC posthumously. His story:

Lance Corporal William Cotter VC

William Richard Cotter (March 1882 - March 14, 1916) VC is a British who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

Cotter was born in Folkstone in 1882 as son of Richard and Amy Cotter. At the age of 33 he worked as a lance corporal in the 6th battalion of the Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was posthumously awarded a VC for the following action:

On March 6, 1916, Cotter was badly wounded in the leg at Hohenzollern Redoubt, France. Although he was badly wounded, he crawled about 50 meters to a crater and urged the men to hold on. He gave orders to the gunners. He maintained this position for two hours. He only allowed the care of his wounds when it was calm for a while. Because of the hostile fire he could not be moved for 14 hours and during this time he tried to encourage everyone. He eventually died of the consequences of his injuries.

He was buried at the Lillers Communal Cemetery, France. His VC is in the National Army Museum.
