no. 13 - By The Time You Get This by They Might Be Giants (links to the music vid) is a song from the perspective of a long-dead society who thought that everything in the world would be at peace by 1937. The irony of the song is that the world actually did not become more peaceful in the least, so the song reads like a sad ironic letter from the past.
It was a really weird pick for this ahaha so I decided to focus on the optimism about the future! not pictured is a second panel where many years later in g5, pony society has actually backslid into species separation again
I also drew inspiration from the album cover art, which had been done with a typewriter and cut pieces of paper :)
