In Praise of Excellence by Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott © 2017 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott Thursdays are my day off and my time to go get "lost" in the woods for a few hours. And yes, I usually have along a camera or two. This week's exploration inspired me to write a little article praising the excellence of some of my favorite lenses and the kinds of images that they enable. This image (and the gallery featured in the article) are out of camera JPEGs, showing how beautiful results can be created without elaborate post processing when you use great gear. This shot is a case in point. Wide open, f/1.4, from the Canon 35L II. Notice how much sharpness and punch the image has, and the ability to have a shallow depth of field (which produces depth to the image) even at a wider focal length and medium distance. Bravo! Want to see (and read more)? Here's the article and gallery: bit.ly/DAexcellence Technical Information: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV + Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM | Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X2 (use code "dustinabbott" to get 10% off) Want to know more about me or make contact?
