Xalira: Status: Alive Gender: Female Race: Couatl Alignment: Neutral Good
Personality Traits:
- Empathetic: We, couatls, came to this world from a great tragedy, when brotherly blood was spilled by the primordial dragons. We deeply care about all living beings, we listen. - Flexible: Coautl society is no more, though our traditions live from generation to generation., the world is terrifying now, evil lurks everywhere, we must not be surprised, but adapt at all new challenges.
- Humble: I see pain all around me, yet most everyone hide it, maybe even from themselves. If only I could help them, and I can, at least try. Give me a chance, and we shall overcome the struggles, together.
- Cowardly: I am no fighter, and I fear my own powers to bring harm upon others are as strong as my powers to heal.
Background:
Xalira was but a youngling when her first tragic adventure had started. Stolen from her parents and taken deep into the jungle by a group of treasure-seeking adventurers from Stormreach, it could be said it was but a miracle when those same adventurers met another group who had just raided a dragon lair and were ready to depart in the river back to civilization, when the very angry dragon they had raided the lair had just appeared.
In one brutal fight, Eldresar had killed all the adventurers, and was taking his trinkets back, and even new ones, when he realized one young, small Xalira, scared of his elder presence and tried to hide in a bag, just for Eldresar to take it anyways and bring her back to his lair.
He was not oblivious to what she was, a couatl, a race thought extinct, or so it was not to be. A prize to be had. After returning to his lair, he had put Xalira under a cage and was very satisfied with himself, despite her whimpers and fear of him. He would fall to a slumber not long afterwards, which Xalira would enter in his mind, in the realm of his dreams.
There she saw what Eldresar truly was. Cold, lonely and miserable, an exile dragon, for a cause he thought most rightful, the preservation of the true draconci prophecy. To his surprise, she talked to him in the dream, and both shared quite a good talk together.
In a moment, Eldresar had awakened and looking at Xalira, he opened her cage and freed her, deeply apologizing for his monstrous coldness towards her. She had accepted it, and from that night onwards, both would become quite good friends.
Xalira brought life back to Eldresar and his gem heart. And in exchange, he promised to protect her and be a father figure. Knowing Xalira may be missing home and their happiness might not last forever, Eldresar decided to go with her to search for her family, but after many years, the illusive couatls did not appear.
Though Xalira has not lost her faith yet, and believes her parents are still there, she is content with helping Eldresar in his hermit life, and shares many good moments with him, turning the cold, careless elder hermit dragon into a force of good and kindness.
