Chapter 2: Hero You Deserve
Chaos happened to be traveling down that same road. "Excuse me, ma'am, are you lost?"
"Oh, no. My house is this way."
"Oh, is that your doll?"
"It is now. I am in the business of restoring toys like this one."
"Alrighty, be careful around here. A lot of dangerous freaks roam around here,"
"Thank you, miss," the woman said, getting back in her car.
Chaos wandered back to her base. she looked up then bumped into someone.

Child’s Play
Chapter 9: Hands Off!
That night, Gentle went down to the kitchen for a drink. Delly, who had gone down to get a snack for Isa, froze up the second the Freak entered the kitchen.
“That’s strange.. Isa must have left her creepy doll downstairs,” He commented looking at Delly.
The doll’s eyes glowed a brighter red than had been previously done once Gentle faced him.
He looked around to see if anyone was coming around. “I doubt Isa would miss it,”
Delly, currently unable to move, panicked. Oh crap…
Gentle picked up Delly and started to make his way to the garbage.
Delly shouted the first thing he could think of (and was allowed to while frozen): “Slither on back to Hell, coward!”
He chuckled. “Threatened, are we?”
“You’re a long way from France, boy.” Delly turned on his Mining Light, hoping to blind Gentle.
It slightly worked. He didn’t let go, but he turned Delly away.
Delly knocked over a jar of marbles using telekinesis, hoping Gentle would fall.
Sure enough, the evil Freak slid and fell with a thud dropping Delly.
“Dominated, you turncoat!” taunted the doll.
Gentle growled and got back up knife in hand.
Delly’s eye glow brightened as he was picked up, then became blinding once he felt the knife go through his chest.
Delly screamed, then snarled at Gentle. “YOU SNEAKY COWARD! YOU FILTHY SCOUNDREL! I’M GONNA BEAT YOUR SNEAKY A** LIKE A MULE!!!” The light flashed again as Delly pulled the knife out of his chest and bit Gentle’s hand.
Gentle dropped Delly upon the response.
Delly snarled and climbed the Freak, dealing small-but-powerful bites to him. “Take that! And that! And that!”
“WHY DO YOU HAVE TEETH?!” He grabbed Delly and tried to throw him.
Delly hit the wall. “Stay away from me with that!” he shrieked, pointing at the knife. Holding his chest, he tried to stumble out of the kitchen.
Soon Chaos entered the room to see Gentle covered in bite marks.
Some were bleeding, but most were just impact based. They stung when she touched them.
“What happened to you?”
“THAT DOLL! IT’S POSSESSED! IT TRIED TO KILL ME!”
“The doll?”
“YES!” Gentle pointed out the door.
She looked back and sure enough. There Delly was, frozen in a crawling position.
Oh boy…
“So you stabbed Isa’s favorite doll..” she groaned and went to pick up Delly. “I’ll fix it up. But I’m gonna tell Jester about this,”
Delly’s eyes shone blue with a purple tinge.
Chaos put Delly in her bag and took him to her base so she could see the gaps together.
The doll’s stuffing was red, she noted.
“Cute little joke, if it wasn’t so morbid,”
“Much obliged, pardner.”
“So, who made you?” Delly was unfrozen.
“You believe?”
“Hard not to, Gentle doesn’t go to find the raccoons. That’s Brutal.”
“I don’t like either of them,” Delly hissed, standing up. “Especially Gentle. Spies are lousy.”
“Sit, not done operating,”He still had a hole in him.
Delly went back down. “He started it. He tried to kill me!"Delly pointed at his chest for emphasis.
"I know Child’s Play is a thing, but it isn’t fair!”
“It’s hard, trust me I know. I had my fair share of encounters when I was a new freak too. Luckily I have teleportation,”
“I do, too, but it doesn’t work if someone can see me.” Delly stood once he was repaired. “Now that I look back on it, I could have waited until he threw me away and teleported back to Isa.”
“Probably,” Chaos shrugged.
“Live and learn, I guess.” Delly sat on her head. “He’s a jerk, so I won’t be losing sleep about it."
“He will be,”
"He shouldn’t have attacked me,” came the answer. “Do you think anyone will believe him?”
“Maybe,”
“I hope nobody gets mad.”
“If anything, Jester will be mad at Gentle,”
“I kinda hope so,” Delly said, falling asleep.
“Let’s get you back to Isa,”
A couple days later, Delly’s eye glow was fiercer than ever once he saw Gentle.
Chaos had told Jester about last night.
“GEEEEENNTTLLLLLLE!” Jester shouted, storming down the stairs after Gentle, who was holding an icepack over a few of the bruises along his arm.
Delly played an Engineer laugh. This is gonna be great.
“Mind explaining to me why you stabbed Isa’s new toy?” Jester demanded, stomping right up to the injured Freak.
Spyper tossed Intelligent some popcorn, laughing.“Get the camera, guys!”
Pancakes pulled out his phone discreetly and started recording.
Spyper and Intelligent grinned, and Polite sighed sympathetically before sitting down to watch the show.
Delly, as Jester discussed the issue with Gentle, stared at RED and Brutal, who looked like he’d had a bad night. Spyper looked at him. “Jennifer?"
Intelligent turned his laptop around, showing something Jennifer had posted. "If Acid Face is any indication, yes."
"Man, that’s twice in a row. How did she even get away?"
"Says here that Brutal took a splash of acid to the face. It also says, ‘Better luck next time. Ha ha ha!’”
“But look at his face, nothing,”
“I noticed something in the video. She cut out part of it. Look,” Intelligent said. The video had been cut so that you could see Brutal, dissolved face and all, collapse- and then Jennifer leaning a fully healed Brutal in the street. “I don’t know what happened, but eagle-eyed people may say she healed him.”
Delly seemed to glare at Brutal as the conversation continued. Brutal’s coffee tipped over, spilling on him.
“Augh!”
There was a knock at the door, and there stood Hero, wings gone in favor of a cape. “So this is where Chaos hangs out. Cute.”
“What the f*** are you doing here?” Pancakes asked.
“Chaos invited me. I brought gifts.” She held up a basket of fruit, snickered, then turned to Brutal. “How’s your face?”
“Better.”
“Yeah, that healing potion I gave her does wonders, huh?” She asked, handing everyone a fruit.
“Everyone in here knows your secret,” Pancakes chuckled. “They won’t say a thing. We swore Brutal to secrecy,”
“As long as there’s no solid evidence, you can’t say one way or the other. I’m doing an interview with her later.”
“We all know you’re the same person,” they all rang in unison.
“Editing skills horrible.” Pancakes stated.
“Thank goodness I don’t get paid to edit,” came the reply. She sat. “I don’t know what was going through my head when I healed Brutal. Common sense dictated that I let him die."
"Probably a code of honor. You’re an angel, right?” Intelligent asked.
Hero hesitated, as if considering how to answer. “What does it matter?"
"I guess not much, but I’d like to know. For research."
Hero smiled at him. "Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies.” However, she did turn her cape into brilliant white wings.
Intelligent typed something, then sent it to Rudra.
Hero reached for a strange looking fruit. “Anyone want this one? Hard to come by where I’m from."
Intelligent took it. "So what fruit is this?"
"Star fruit. Better than any human fruit on Earth. Except pears.”
“Humans already have Star Fruit. How is this any different?” Pure asked, taking the fruit.
“Try it and see,” came the reply. Then Hero looked at Brutal. “I wanted to tell you something, by the way. Leave my Spy out of it. If mine is fair game, so are yours. That clear?”
“Whatever you say Sheila,” he chuckled.
“Nobody likes a squatter!” quipped Delly.
Spyper hesitated. “I should be half offended by that.”
“He said he doesn’t like you because you threw him the other day.” The others who didn’t know looked at Isa, confused.
“It said what?” Intelligent asked.
Spyper smiled, amused. “Tell him I’m sorry, then.”
The doll’s eyes turned blue as if to accept the apology.

Chapter 8: Revealing
It's been three days. Why haven't they dropped this? Delly asked Isa.
I guess because I’m an only child.
Do you want to do a loop?
Nah, the ceiling’s too low.
Okay. Delly would have pouted if he could. I wish I could move around. It's scary not being able to move.
I could leave the room
I'd appreciate it.
She waited until everyone was distracted and left the room.
Delly stretched. "You know, you never did explain why that one guy was afraid of me."
“Which one? Uncle Pancakes?”
"Yeah. All I did was put his hammer at the site. I didn't hit him with it or anything."
“No, I’ll show you,” She got a movie from one of the shelves called Child’s Play.

Chapter 6: Alive
Pancakes was practically clawing at the door to get out.
"May I let him out, ma'am?"
"Go ahead."
The intern opened the door, and he dashed out.
“Add that to the records. ‘Is afraid of dolls’.” Lilac chuckled.
"To be fair, ma'am, that doll may have tried to frame him for a crime."
“True,”
"We will keep an eye on the doll for the time being."
Isa looked down at Delly. Why would you frame Pancakes for a crime he didn’t commit?

Chapter 5: Long Way Down
Troll Scout ended up in the forest that night planning his next annoyance. As he talked, he heard a growl behind him.
“W-who’s there?” He turned around trying to see if anything was chasing him.
Nothing.Or so it seemed. Pancakes’s voice could be heard at Troll’s left saying, “Over here, Troll!" A blue flash light could be seen in that direction.
Troll growled. “You trying to pick a fight, A**?!?”
The voice came from his right: "Over here!"The flash turned a darker blue and was closer this time.
Troll growled and dashed towards the light. “Stop flashing everywhere, you coward!”
The voice laughed as Troll ran right into some marbles.
He groaned as he hit the ground.
"Someone needs to teach you a lesson!” Troll felt the hammer instead of seeing it. It knocked him further back, and the marbles rolled him into a well. Thankfully, there was a small mattress on the bottom. Thank goodness for small favors.
He screamed until he hit the mattress slightly bouncing. “I’ll f***ing get you for this, Pancakes!”
The laugh returned as a sewer grate was hammered over the well. “Time out!” Then Pancakes’s hammer was tossed onto the grate.
The next day, there came a call to the chapel.
“Pancakes,” Spyper called, “it’s for you!”
Pancakes sighed and got up and took the phone. “Hello?”
“Uh, hi,” said an intern, “Miss Rudra wants to see you. Like, right now.”
He gulped slightly. “Can I ask her why for? Or is she too mad for me to ask questions?”
“She said it’s because of what you did to Troll.”
He paused. “I’ll be over there to straighten things out.”
Isa woke up a little later to see Troll Scout’s hat sitting on her bed. A small bow like what would go on a present had been placed on it, and Delly was sitting inside it.
Isa picked it up confused and took it to Jester. “I found Delly in this this morning,”
“Is that Trolls hat?” Jester asked, taking the headwear.
“I think so,”
Meanwhile Pancakes finally made it to HECU. “Thanks for the lift Chaos.”
“Good luck with Rudra,”
Lilac was with Rudra. “I mean I could see why he would do it but the tactics used aren’t anything like Pancakes. Especially not from how Lily describes him,”
“Seems more like the work of a prankster than anything else,” Rudra remarked, writing something down.
“How could a prankster steal his hammer, ma'am?” asked the intern who’d called Pancakes.
“According to Lily it’s on the easier side. Then again she’s friends with him.”
“And tricksters among Freaks are crafty. Or in Rubberfruits case, simply too determined to give up on stealing something. However, it appears this was done by the more…in a word, lighthearted of pranksters,” Rudra said, dropping a bag of marbles on the desk, “This was found near the pit Trollscout was found in.”
“Looks like something Jester would do,” Lilac giggled a bit, thinking about how praised they where by Rose.
“It does. And Jester does have a certain degree of contempt for Trollscout. The question is,” Rudra began, suddenly taking out Pancakes hammer and placing it on the desk, “Why this was found there as well? Jester isn’t one to steal,” She turned to Pancakes, “So why, pray tell, was your weapon at the scene?”
The tension in the room skyrocketed, and the obviously new intern shrank away from the Freaks.
“I-I don’t know. I swear I had it with me last night. I was at the chapel. Honest!”
“Sir, do you know any Freaks with voice mimicry?” the intern asked. “Because Troll Scout told us that he could clearly hear your voice.”
“I know a few with it but they’re all Spies,”
“And none of them would do something like this, sir?”
“I mean, maybe Gentle,”
“I figured he would just shoot Troll,” the intern shrugged.
“And Gentle wouldn’t use marbles to slip up someone,” Rudra added.
Pancakes was visibly sweating. “Is it Rudra or are you hiding the truth?” Lilac inquired, looking at Pancakes.
“Pancakes, is there something you’re not telling us?” Rudra asked, cocking an eyebrow.
He shook worse. “It’s you.” Lilac puzzled together sighing.
“I can’t blame him, ma'am,” the intern said.
“Pancakes you aren’t in much trouble. I doubt it was you, you just hit people with your hammer. You aren’t nearly smart enough to come up with elaborate schemes,” Lilac stated. Pancakes stopped shaking for a moment to shoot Lilac a glare. He knew she was right but she didn’t need to rub it in.
“So if it wasn’t you, then who was it?”
“I really don’t know,” Rudra mused. “I don’t think it was Jester but they’re the only person who would come to mind with something like this.”
“Should I call them, ma'am?”
“What do you think Rudra?” Lilac asked.
“Give them a call,” Rudra instructed.
The intern left the room to do just that.
“C-can I go now Rudra?” Pancakes nearly squeaked but coughed and corrected his voice.
“Stay right where you are,” Rudra said. She gestured to a chair for Pancakes to sit.
He froze up and went to the chair.
The intern led Jester, Isa, and Delly (still in the hat) into the room. “Here they are, ma'am.”
Pancakes was trying to mask his fear. It wasn’t working. The doll seemed to be looking at Rudra, but its eyes were a dull gray.
“Jester, please sit down."
"What’s all this then?” Jester asked, setting Isa in their lap.
“It’s in regards to who put Troll Scout in that pit last night. Whoever did it took Pancakes’s weapon and mimicked his voice to do it. We have reason to believe it was you due to the use of pranking tactics.”
"Me?” Jester repeated, a bit startled, “I don’t have voice mimicry. Not perfect voice mimicry anyways. The most I can do are impressions."
Rudra nodded, then looked to Isa and narrowed her eyes. "Is that Troll Scouts hat?”
“Yeah, I woke up and my doll was in it on my bed with a bow on it,”
“Isn’t that the advanced one that the peddler sold to you?” Pancakes asked, and Isa nodded.
Delly stared at Pancakes. One eye was red and the other was blue.
“Maybe since it acts more mechanical. It acts like… what does Chaos call it again…” Pancakes tried to wrack his brain.
“An AI?” Lilac asked.
“Yeah! Maybe it heard someone talk smack about him and did it,”
Rudra stared at the doll for a moment and leaned back in her chair. “Definitely not the strangest thing I’ve heard.”
Isa thought. “I did say he needed to be taught a lesson,”
“What was that now?” Rudra questioned, sitting back up.
“Last night he attacked us when he where having dinner and he tried to take Delly, Aunt Chaos chased him off and I said he needed to be taught a lesson,”
“If that doll has imprinted on Isa, I can see it obeying what it thought was a command,” the intern said.
Isa looked down at the doll. “Does that mean Delly is in trouble?”
The intern looked it over. “Should we have it reprogrammed, ma'am?”
Lilac looked at Delly. It seemed a little on the creepy side.
Rudra was silent for a moment, then leaned back over her desk. “Isa, please let me see that doll for a moment,” She requested gently.
The doll’s eyes glowed a faint, almost unnoticeable blue. It smiled up at Rudra, who noted that it felt like more of a ragdoll than a robot.
Rudra carefully looked the doll over, checking for any kind of mechanisms inside. “There’s no mechanical components inside this. It’s just a normal doll,” She said, turning Delly face up in her palm, “But…I can sense an energy coming off of it.”
“What? Like it’s Alive? Like Chucky?” Pancakes looked like he was ready to bolt.
“Not quite like Chucky. I can feel angelic power coming off of this doll,” Rudra said. She turned to Jester, “And you said you bought this off a peddler?”
“Maybe it exists as an expression of her unconscious,” the intern said, looking Delly over. “If it did this, then it sure wasn’t active while she was awake.”
Pancakes could sense the Chucky energies and proceeded to bolt to the door.
When Pancakes opened the door, he was greeted by Noir. “Oh. Wasn’t expecting anyone else to be in here,” She said, noting the other Freaks inside.
“We’re dealing with a doll that may or may not be working your granddaughter’s unconscious will,” the intern said bluntly.
“What?” Noir spluttered, taken aback. Rudra motioned her over and showed her the doll. “Is it possessed?” Noir asked, lightly patting Delly’s helmet.
“Not quite, as far as I can tell. But it is radiating angelic energy.”
“We think that energy may have made him into an expression of Isa’s id,” declared the intern.
“Well if it’s angelic, it can’t be all that bad,” Noir smiled. She noticed Isa in Jesters lap and waved, “Hi, sweetheart.”
“Hi Grandma,”
Delly’s eyes glowed blue, and Pancakes tried to leave again. “Stay,” Lilac said. Pancakes tried anyways.
The intern hit a button, putting the room in lockdown. “Nothing personal, sir.”
Rudra handed Isa back the doll and folded her hands together. “So, if you didn’t put Troll Scout in that pit, and if Jester didn’t do it, then who did?”
“Have we ruled out the doll, ma'am?”
“It’s certainly a possibility if its alive.”
“Of course, we’re talking about something out of Child’s Play, so we should look at it with the side eye.”
Rudra nodded and turned to Jester. “Jester, I want you to keep an eye on the doll.”
“Can do,” Jester nodded.
