I have a song for Athos
✃
The moment the doors opened before her she regretted her decision to come here. The ramble of the hospital died away as the doors swung close and the eerie silence hit her. It was far too bright, the walls were too white, there didn't seem to be anyone around. Silence echoed down the halls until a scream, thud or wail would shatter the serenity of the ward. Her foot steps echoed off the hard polished floor and she counted the numbers over the doors, peering inside they seemed like normal rooms, all the beds were turned out to face the large windows that allowed sunlight to poor in - but as the numbers grew higher the rooms gave way to what looked more like a cell than room.
Her chest tightened at the sight, no windows, just the door, bright lights hanging high over head so there were no shadows, no place to hide. She turned her head suddenly and breathed a sigh of relief as she spotted his room number hanging over an actual room - and not a cell.
She stood for a moment, peering inside, her fingers resting against the door handle but unable to put the force behind turning it. He seemed at peace - not at all like the last time she had seen him. Madness had over taken him - had she pushed him too far? Had she been the one to drive him to this extreme where he'd be forced to enter into this place to find sanity again? No, it was the drinking, the stress, their fights, their relationship - that was what the doctor had told her as he treated the few minor wounds he had dealt her. She shouldn't blame herself. And while she tried to show the world that she didn't - she did.
"--Olivier." She had stepped inside the room, her body backed up against the door in fear that the sound of her voice would cause him to snap and she'd be forced to flee. "--Olivier...They told me that you had been asking for me."
-----& there is sunlight on the edges of your lips. a thousand & one stars in the hollow of your palm. & i kiss the syntax of a life off your mouth & taste the vowels of your heartbeat against my tongue.
Fire flints against the wall --- a map of orange tongues aligned in a tale : the impossible story about light in darkness’ embrace. But permanent codes condemn the love between two opposites --- and liquid protocols stab the emperor of all impossibilities & abolish the system of swirling patterns in a beating heart. [ F i r e i n t h e o c e a n ] But she feels the warm climates in the way her wound aches -- tastes the searing & spreading pain beneath her tongue. Tries to chew away the lump of profanities & swallow the cluster of unspoken screams. And yet she sews shut the midnight skin -- tames the liquid lava clawing out of her flesh. And she rises above insubstantial sensations -- the prickle of invisible probes beneath her skin. But there is a voice ----- an alignment of syllables across the expanse of thoughts ❝ Hurry up, Sinclair. ❞ And emeralds narrow at the silhouette -- lips pursed into a single line ;; ❝ I wouldn’t have to hurry if you were more careful. ❞ But there is a flare of phosphorescent lights and the sound of a door shutting ----------- Goddamn automatic junk ! ❝ Shouldn’t the electricity come on after we leave ----- ? ❞ And words trail off as realization dawns ❝ Shit, shit, shit !!! ❞

Despite the lack of common language & the constant arguments, Helga & Athos are an exceptionally synchronized team. Whispering between bullet holes, hearts pounding against palm as supple finger presses against the trigger, eyes glued to the geometry of the other’s built. The undeniable simulation of peace.
