Duggar Fun Fact #62
Of the 8 currently married Duggar kids, 3 had a “honeymoon baby” (using @duggardata‘s metric of being born within 365 days of the wedding, which I think is a good metric.) Those couples are Jill and Derick, Joy and Austin, and Joe and Kendra.
Spurgeon Seewald was very nearly a honeymoon baby--he was born 368 days after his parents’ marriage! MacKenzie Duggar was born to Josh and Anna 377 after their wedding.
On the slightly longer side, Grace Duggar was born roughly 14 months post-wedding. Bella Duggar was born about 16 months after her parents married, but Lauren experienced a miscarriage before Bella. Felicity Vuolo was the longest-awaited baby, arriving 20.5 months--close to two years!--after her parents wed.
Now that Justin and Claire will very likely be married in the next couple of months, we are about to have another Duggar couple on our hands. Do you think we will see a fourth Duggar honeymoon baby? Personally, I hope they get a little time for themselves before becoming parents...especially since they’re the youngest couple (if you combine their ages) since Jim Bob and Michelle, who themselves waited three years to conceive Josh!
ALSO (and I know I’m rambling here) why did they include John and Abbie in the church circle conversation about how they all got saved if they weren’t gonna show us what John and Abbie said??? Like I’m more interested in their story about not getting married as teens than Joe and Kendra who basically read verbatim what’s posted on their website.
We Have a Claritin Wedding Date...Maybe.
Redditors have found two potential wedding dates for Justin and Claire’s upcoming wedding. Both dates were found on a registry under their names, with the February date appearing first. It was apparently later changed to an April date. The couple has not commented on whether these registries are legitimate.
Personally, I bet both of these dates are being used as placeholders. The Duggars and Spiveys likely don’t want the media finding out the actual date, and with COVID restrictions, they have even more reason to conceal when the wedding is actually happening.
My bet is that these two are wed on Feb. 13th, Valentine’s Day weekend, or sometime in late January. What do you all think?
Duggar Fun Fact #51
Michelle Duggar had eight children by her thirtieth birthday. Currently, Anna is 32 with six children, Jill is 29 with two children, Jessa is 28 with three children, Jinger is 27 (next week) with two children, Joy is 23 with two living children and one stillborn, Kendra is 22 and has two children (+1 on the way), and Lauren is 21 with one child, and Abbie Duggar is 28 with one child. Justin’s future bride, Claire, is turning 20 in February, so she’ll likely be 20 or 21 when they have their first child.
Thus far, the only people who seem to be in the running to “beat” Michelle are Joy, Kendra, and maybe Claire.
Kendra would need to have five more children before August of 2028 in order to match Michelle. Given her current pace of around 500 days (assuming a Feb. 28th due date, which seems about right), I could see it happening--but it would be close! Kendra would need to deliver around every 540 days to keep on pace, which would be really, really tough to do consistently for 8 kids!
Meanwhile, Joy would need to have an even faster pace since she has only two children and is almost a year older than Kendra. However, unlike Kendra, twins are known to run in Joy’s family.
I personally think that Joy and Austin will probably have a couple more kids in the next few years, then start to slow down a bit (by Duggar standards, not by normal ones). They’ll probably end up with 10-12 kids.
It’s harder for me to guess what might happen for JoKen. Having a huge number of kids close together increases the risk of complications, and it’s not healthy for the mother. That being said, people like Michelle and Kelly Jo Bates have defied those odds before. Kendra could do the same, or she and Joe might end up having to slow down due to a complicated birth or other medical problems--or perhaps just exhaustion. The next five or so years will be very telling for them.
Let’s just hope everyone stays safe and healthy, and that none of these young women actually feel a ton of pressure to be the next Michelle. That would be pretty overwhelming!
On Lauren and Titus, Part 2
I just remembered that when I became engaged (around the same time of year as these two), I needed my ring resized and it took a while, I think because the holiday season is a common one for engagements. The fact Lauren isn’t wearing her ring may not mean very much.
The social media purge is weirder, though, and hard to explain. Some people have said that the Halls were upset by some of the mockery Titus received on Reddit and elsewhere and they wanted to do a major social media scrub as a result, but I’m not so sure. But the fact the Halls and the Caldwells are still friends on Facebook is interesting.
On the other hand, the Caldwell family recently posted a video of a Christmas pageant that included Lauren and Titus as soloists (it was shared on their Instagram). Even if that video was filmed a while back, would they have shared it if the engagement was broken? And do we really think the pageant was filmed all that long ago? I’m not sure.
The mystery continues! Of course, either one of the family could clear things up by making a simple statement: i.e. “We are so excited for the wedding!” or, “The Lord was leading them in different directions” (i.e. the Duggars with Josiah and Marjorie). I guess if we pass June 18th without a wedding, we’ll know for sure.
Even though this is a tough situation, I do think the best thing for Lauren would be if the Caldwells briefly addressed the speculation once by either confirming the engagement or stating it was broken off, because otherwise gossip will proliferate for months, and people will continue to make wild assumptions that portray the situation in the worst possible light. But perhaps things are in limbo and they are waiting to resolve things before saying anything.
Duggar and Duggar-Adjacent Predictions for 2021!
I saw a fun post about Duggar predictions for 2021, so I’m posting my own. I’d love to see other people comment and make predictions, too!
1. Engagements and Weddings
Justin and Claire will marry secretly in January, maybe the second or third weekend in January, then reveal the nuptials later, on Instagram. Their first child will be born in early December.
Jed will finally, officially announce he is courting Katey and propose a month or two later. They’ll get married in the summer and she’ll get pregnant right away.
Jer announces a courtship by the end of the year.
Lauren Caldwell announces a new engagement to some random 20-something fundie guy we’ve never heard of and gets married within two or three months of the engagement. Titus is never mentioned again, except in a cryptic Instagram caption by Mama Caldwell about broken hearts.
2. Pregnancies
Jessa and Ben announce a pregnancy in the spring.
Pest and Anna announce a pregnancy in the summer.
Joy and Austin announce a pregnancy in the summer.
Jill and Derick announce a pregnancy in early winter.
Josiah and Lauren announce a pregnancy at the end of the year.
John and Abbie announce a pregnancy around the same time as Josiah and Lauren.
Kendra and Joe announce a pregnancy at the end of the year as well. Baby #4 to be born in June.
3. Drama
Derick shades JB on Instagram, but says nothing of substance. He and Jill do another magazine interview stating they are distancing themselves from the family. Jill and Derick either start a podcast or get matching couples Christian tattoos.
Pest is subject to another lawsuit that involves real estate. Anna posts fake cheery captions on Instagram that strategically hide the lack of windows in the guesthouse where they live. Jill Rodrigues re-follows Anna on Instagram and then unfollows again. Anna argues with people in the comments who say her family needs therapy.
Someone’s homebirth goes wrong yet again and they are rushed to the hospital, but the family acts like it’s no big deal. If Jill gives birth, Derick again denies that she ever needed an emergency c-section.
The entire family gets COVID, maybe for the second time, and races to be the first in line to get a vaccine so that they can resume their superspreader events.
The two remaining Lost Boys duel over some pretty 20-year-old Quiverfull girl, but it all comes to nothing and we only hear about the rumors from the tabloids.
Jeremy spends way too much time on Instagram and is caught liking some Nike photos, but he and Jinger pretend it never happened.
Duggar Fun Fact #55
Back when all of them lived at the large Duggar homestead made famous by TLC, the girls all shared one bedroom...as did the boys.
