@bostyny Lunea Part 5 - (early) birthday gift for @suteflower

She always liked this set, I wanted to try my hand at converting Bostyny's stuff, February is coming, so here's my little gift <3

All recolorable except for the pencil clutter - the colors aren't always set up as gradients, so it isn't a good choice to try the orange/rose channel trick

All BGC except for the rocking duck, which requires Supernatural

Activity table is functional - if you want the kids to actually draw on them instead of just playing with blocks, get @olomaya's mod!

Both the crib and the toddler bed work as well, cribs. Frame and mattress for the bed are separated

Frog toy comes in two versions: playable and deco

Toy box is properly animated!

The bassinet is deco but I added a lot of slots so you can fill it with dolls and toys

The highest poly item is around 1.5k (the crib, I believe), so don't worry about polycount

Some items have extra presets with stencils, have a look at them with CASt

Store shelves decluttered - part 2

A continuation to my previous 2024 set, finally 😅 Somehow, they all ended up being wall shelves this time. This set contains 20 shelves stripped of any decor objects and given slots. They can be found in Living/Dining/Study and Displays/Misc Surfaces for various prices. Most have only one preset, but the ones with stencils have plain presets as well.

In the archive you can find a readme with the polycounts (highest is 512) and sources, because there were waaay too many links to include here, as well as previews showing off the recolorable channels and slots better.

ℹ️ Depending on the footprint of the objects you place on slots (small, medium, large), adjacent slots may be disabled. In shorter/narrower parts, slots may only allow small or medium objects.

The Perfect Place shelf matches the smaller Ode to Distraction Desk.

The Wall Mount Towel Stackomatic shelf now has a second flat surface on it instead of the original towel bar.

A breakthrough that could make ships nearly unsinkable

More than a century after the Titanic, the dream of unsinkable ships is still alive, and scientists may be closer than ever.

More than 100 years after the sinking of the Titanic, the idea of ships that cannot sink continues to motivate engineers. Researchers at the University of Rochester's Institute of Optics have now taken a significant step toward that long-standing goal. They have developed a technique that makes ordinary metal tubes unsinkable -- meaning the tubes stay afloat regardless of how long they remain underwater or how much damage they sustain. The work was led by Chunlei Guo, a professor of optics and physics and a senior scientist at URochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics. Guo and his colleagues detailed the new method in a study published in Advanced Functional Materials. Their approach focuses on modifying the inside surface of aluminum tubes by etching it to create microscopic and nanoscale pits. This textured surface becomes superhydrophobic, allowing it to strongly repel water and remain dry.
