I think I just upset a Conservative Canvasser
So an old bloke rang the doorbell. I’m the only person in my family’s house right this minute, so I answered it despite being in pajamas.
“Are you Mr. [Last Name]?” he asks.
“Probably not the one you’re thinking of,” I say, not really thinking.
“So,” he continues undeterred, “you probably know that the Labour councilor for this county has resigned-”
“You could say promoted,” I interject, since he ran for MP for Ipswich and won (against the incumbent MP, who’d written a lot of that election’s manifesto)!
“Well,” the man said, looking a tad unhappy, “he could have kept being councilor as well.”
“I’d rather he do his job as MP as well as possible.”
“Would anyone else in your family consider voting for the Conservative candidate?” he asks, probably realising I’m a lost cause by this point.
I pause, then say, “probably not.”
He shoves his leaflet at me and leaves.
I put the leaflet in recycling.
