No. 1 What We Talk About When We Talk About Love w/ Alex and Rain

I did this last year and enjoyed the experience so I’m going to do it again. From now through the end of the year I’ll be some shots from each shoot I did in 2019. The first shoot was planned well before the new year when Rain messaged me about my images featuring Avery and Ivy and wondered if they were part of a series, as it turns out I had long been thinking about a project based around a Raymond Carver short story. I wanted to shoot real couples in intimate private moments not big dramatic moments. I am still absolutely in love with some of these shots, especially the ones at the window with the smoke. 2019 was a very weird and in many ways awful year... and even down in the waining days it still manages to find ways to hit me and my family. There’s a part of me where I look about at the year and see just how much I didn’t accomplish, the flip side to that is that I felt like my work in 2019 was more personal and more intentional. Starting the year off with Rain and Alex was really amazing, as it just so happened this eventually became part one of a two part shoot... what that’s had me thinking/rethinking what exactly What We Talk About When We Talk About Love is.
